Thoms Sourdough Cafe is a great little corner spot, catering mainly to westerners and tourists. Besides their sourdough products, they sell a range of imported Western items—mustard, HP sauce, olive oil, etc.—along with delicious homemade nut butters (in different varieties). My friend got the peanut butter and loves it. Just remember to store it in the fridge!
We keep coming back for the cookies, which are perfectly big, crunchy, sweet, and salty. Personally, I would prefer them a little softer on the inside to get that iconic crispy crust with a soft, squishy center—but hey, I’ll take it. This one is pretty damn decent for 1$ a piece (30k VND).
I also tried their smoothie bowl for 115k VMD one day, which, yes, is definitely expensive compared to the usual cheap Asian meals. But hey: It’s clear the prices cater to tourists and Western travelers ready to spend a bit extra, and If you want to splurge, go for it—this is a nice place!
I was delighted to receive my smoothie bowl and discover it came with actual good, crispy Western-style chocolate chips. I loved it—I’m a fan! Lots of granola and fruit too, plus fresh herbs like mint leaves, making the whole experience super pleasurable. I can definitely...
Read moreThis charming little cafe by the sea in Hoi A completely won us over. It’s a serene and inviting spot, exuding warmth and friendliness, where every detail feels carefully considered, from the decor and music to the sincere smiles of the staff. We stopped in for breakfast and were thoroughly impressed. The croissant topped with scrambled eggs and fresh avocado was not just visually appealing but also incredibly flavorful, with a perfect blend of textures and fresh, rich taste. The coffee was outstanding—smooth, robust, and presented beautifully, with a thoughtful touch that made each cup feel special. The café is impeccably clean and welcoming, bathed in natural light, adorned with greenery, and radiating a soothing vibe that made us want to linger… and we did :) The staff are wonderful, very attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making your visit enjoyable, adding even more charm to this delightful place. Read moreAs a homeschooling parent of three energetic kids, Thom's Sourdough Bakery has become our weekly retreat! The staff genuinely welcomes our curious little explorers with warm smiles instead of the usual "please control your children" stares you get elsewhere.
The coffee is DIVINE - rich, perfectly brewed, and exactly what I need after morning math lessons. I can actually enjoy it while it's still hot because the kids are happily occupied with their heavenly pastries. The chocolate croissants have my 7-year-old declaring they're "better than birthday cake," which is the highest praise possible!
What truly sets Thom's apart is how they've created a space where parents can breathe while kids explore and learn on their textbooks. My children love watching the bakers work through and cook things on the ground floor and the other location the staff often takes time to answer their endless questions about how sourdough rises while this location they mention the coffee making and food prep :)
Our homeschool science lessons have never been tastier!...
