If there was a special rating I could give, I would definitely have started with this lovely teahouse. I have always admired its owner, Nhuoc Lac, and wanted to visit Lac Teahouse at least once in my life. I got a chance to do it and it was totally worth all the wait and hope.
Lac Teahouse is the definition of a “hidden gem”. Its location is in a quiet neighborhood, even though it’s just a few steps away from a Saigon main street. You would love the vibe it has when you arrive: you walk into its neighborhood, leaving all the noise and rushes behind you, and you see small teahouse with lots of flowers on its balcony and upper neighbor. Sometimes you will see cats sleeping peacefully if you’re lucky.
I got an instant goosebump as I stepped inside. All the noise from the street stayed behind the door, and in front of my eyes was just a few guests enjoying their tea, a staff member ready to warmly welcome you, and a countertop filled with many tea samples. You can try to smell them before deciding your drinks. I was really excited with all the teas I’ve never seen before: some had smoky smells, some with chocolate smells, some with wooden smells. I strongly recommend taking your time with each kind of tea, the staffs there are also very nice and supportive if you’re new or unsure which one to start.
Each order will come in a new teapot and some sweets as sides. I really enjoyed watching the tea got prepared and served. They did it with all the cares, and gently asked if you want to have a current tea refilled with new hot water. They all tasted and smelled incredibly pleasant! You have to try them slowly, and feel free to try all the snacks for refreshment, they all taste so well together.
I was also lucky to meet the teahouse owner herself. Lac is an incredible person and has a great vibe and energy toward other people. I didn’t have enough time to talk with her as she could only paid a visit to the teahouse for 15 minutes to sign her books I bought, but it was so amazing to get a chance to see...
Read moreThe teahouse is tucked away inside an old condo complex. There’s no sign at the entrance, so it was a bit confusing at first, especially since we took a cab there. The driver had to wait in a small alley nearby until I could confirm the location of the teahouse before dropping us off. Additionally, the street in front of the condo doesn’t allow parking, which made things a bit tricky.
The location is away from the city center, in a quiet area. The decor is serene and cozy, and while the space is small with a low ceiling, it adds to the intimate atmosphere. We really loved the vibe, but because of the size, one loud group can easily disrupt the peaceful setting. Unfortunately, even though we arrived in the early afternoon with only a few customers inside, there was one table with two girls who spoke in extremely loud voices. Their conversation echoed in the small space, making it uncomfortable to relax and enjoy the tea. It was difficult to appreciate the tea and sweets with the constant noise from other conversations.
The tea quality and service were great, but the loud chatter really detracted from the overall experience. We found ourselves wanting to finish our drinks quickly and leave, which is not the experience you expect when...
Read moreExcellent teahouse in Ho Chi Minh city! The place is a very well-regarded hidden gem. The ambience is very relaxed and quite. Perfect for reading a book or working while enjoying your tea.
Their tea selection and quality is amazing. One of the best tea houses I've been in Ho Chi Minh city. They will give recommendation and guidance if you're not experience.
Their dessert is also great, I ordered the Match Swiss Roll and the cake was really good. It was moist and not to sweet and you can definitely taste the amazing quality of the matcha used in the cake unlike the lower grade or artifical matcha flavoring in many dessert place in Ho Chi Minh city.
Overall, highly tecommend giving Lạc Teahouse a try, one of the rare high quality tea-focused...
