I was extremely disappointed. It's not very bad but it's not good either.
It started with the Kir. It was not cold and too sweet using bad sparkling wine. We should have known from there that the rest of the meal would be underwhelming.
I had the steak tartar. While the meat was good, you need to ask for more capers and stuff to make your own mix. The bread they gave me was so bad! It was hard bread crackers, while they could have properly toasted the baguette-like bread they had available instead. Furthermore, it didn't come with butter either. I had to ask for it, and they gave me Vietnamese sweetened margarine. I'm not even sure they washed the eggshell before putting it directly on the meat (as shown on the picture). I could have gotten salmonella. That was outright disgusting... 🤮
Otherwise, the second dish was lamb and it was way overcooked. Lamb should never be well-done but medium-rare! A huge letdown 🤦🏻♂️
The price was not as cheap as the sign says. I found the price to be pretty average for the quality. You get much, much better food for the same price at Cocotte.
The service was Vietnamese and they were clueless about how French food should be eaten. I'm from Europe, so I am pretty picky here. The place itself looks so kitsch, but it is spacious.
Too many missteps here, wasting my time and money. I can't give more than 2 stars. I didn't see any foreigners eating there. This place is really for Vietnamese across the board.
If you're a westerner, do yourself a huge favor and avoid this place...
Read moreWill start with the service first as that had biggest impact for our dinner. Really bad service and not even one smile from anyone working here. This should be addressed immediately, if restaurant cares/wants their customers to actually come back. Pretty mixed feelings about the food overall. Salmon salad was quite bland, no seasoning whatsoever. Lamb chops were pretty tasty, but overcooked. We weren't asked at all on our main meals how we want it done. By far dryest beef I've had for years. We did not get any of our food served at the same time so we just decided to share all meals, instead of waiting meals to cool down. Overall, way overrated. Even though near my place, will not be...
Read moreFood is hit or miss...seems like cook is not passionate and painting by numbers. Seabass was way overcooked and seemed like it was batch cooked in oven the day before...not pan cooked as should be. The lambchops were full of gristle. The potato soup was ok but not memorable.
Sad to see a French restaurant so underwhelming...maybe the whole thing is just a revenge against the Colonial Days and for that I would applaud this restaurant for creative comeuppance. The Staff is very good.
Alas, I just ate at another lousy French Restaurant today, so maybe...
