MEAT & MEET - THISO MALL — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

We were shopping in the mall and came by at around 3.10pm as they had the afternoon happy hour promotion (between 3-5pm) with a 30% discount off the usual buffet price.

The restaurant was spacious and cosy though not all the seats were with back support and felt like dinning in a canteen but that was alright with the ambience and cooling aircon.

When we arrived, the restaurant was about 50% full in capacity though it was already past 3pm, probably due to the promotion. We were ushered by the staff to the table and soon we started.

There were food on the booth tables, such as veggies and marinated meats like beef, pork, chicken, instant noodles, rice etc. In addition, upon ordering through the staff, they would serve "premium meats and seafood" (because we opted for the higher price buffet) to our table. Generally, the meats were well marinated and nice.

Staff regularly came by automatically (without request) to change the BBQ metal plate which was good. But the ordering of the premium meats was not well communicated to us, they just left a piece of paper on our table without explaining to us (or possibly due to language barrier) until almost half way through we then realized we could order other foods not on display after looking around our next door tables. Maybe they could also have the English translation on the paper.

There were also pickles and fresh cut fruits, besides softdrinks and ice creams.

The reason why I'm giving them only a 1 Star is because they would either delay refilling or don't refill the Ba Chi Bo (Sliced Beef Short Plate) in their buffet.

Please note that I've been to this branch for more than 5 times and this has always been the case. And this happens not only here but in all Meat & Meet stores with a Buffet format (Thiso Mall, Saigon Centre & Vincom).

I have read the other reviews and we all have the same experience about the Ba Chi Bo.

If they are just not going to fill it up, they might as well take out the Ba Chi Bo from the menu (and therefore have less complaints from customers).

This annoyance definitely masks the otherwise good food you can have in this restaurant.

PRO TIP: It's better to eat in other Meat & Meet branches where you order your food from the waiter (lile Estela Mall or Crescent Mall). In these branches, you are at least "guaranteed" to get your right quantity...
