Nam Mê Saigon – A Delicious Journey Through the Mekong Delta
Tucked away in Thao Dien, Nam Mê Saigon is a gem for anyone seeking authentic, flavor-packed Vietnamese dishes, especially from the Mekong Delta. Every dish we tried showed attention to detail, regional flair, and great execution. • Grilled pork rolls were a fantastic start—expertly made, with flavorful pork and a rich, savory peanut sauce that tied everything together. • The Cai Rang shrimp rolls featured fresh, plump shrimp and clean, refreshing flavors—simple but spot-on. • The squid salad with pomelo was a standout. The squid was perfectly cooked—succulent and tender—and the pomelo brought brightness and acidity that elevated the whole dish. • Grilled pork jowl with mắc khén was deeply satisfying—juicy, smoky pork with an aromatic Northern Vietnamese spice that added a unique, peppery zing. • Grilled corn was a nice surprise, adding a sweet and smoky interlude between heavier dishes. • Grilled duck with fermented tofu delivered bold, authentic flavors. A great dish to share and perfect for those who love the deeper, funkier tones of traditional Vietnamese cooking. • And finally, the star of the night: Feather fish “Vượt vũ môn”. This dish is a must-order—the fish had a crispy exterior with a moist, slightly chewy center. It was beautifully paired with a bed of crunchy, deep-fried lemongrass and a tangy tamarind sauce. Texturally and flavor-wise, it was incredibly satisfying.
The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Nam Mê Saigon offers a flavorful, well-executed tour of Southern Vietnamese cuisine—and definitely earns a spot on the must-visit list for food...
Read moreAbsolutely do not recommend. Our team held a party here and everyone ended up with food poisoning later that night. It was a horrible experience and completely unacceptable. Please take food safety seriously - this was a major health risk.
Responses - Thank you for your response.
I understand the need for verification, and I appreciate your commitment to food safety. However, I would not have taken the time to write a complaint if the issue weren’t real. Multiple members of our group experienced clear symptoms of food poisoning within hours after dining at your restaurant - and notably, we had all eaten the same set menu.
Unfortunately, not everyone seeks medical attention for short-term foodborne illness, especially if symptoms pass within 24 - 48 hours. That said, the incident was distressing and ruined what was meant to be a celebration. Even if no other parties reported issues, this doesn’t negate what happened to us.
I don’t expect compensation, but I do believe this incident deserves to be taken seriously and investigated, rather than dismissed because others didn’t report the same. At minimum, a thorough internal review of food handling that day would be the responsible...
Read moreI came here several times for breakfast and had a pretty good experience.
However, yesterday I reserved a table for 13 people for dinner and the experience was disappointing.
The food quality was average. Salad, noodle and fried rice is ok. "Lẩu mắm" was super salty we couldn't even eat the vegetables and shrimps in it. "Lẩu Thái", on the other hand, was too sweet. Both dishes were served with a handful of vermicelli, so we ordered extra vermicelli, but it was out of stock.
We ordered fried noodle and were also informed that noodle was out of stock after the staff received our order for quite a long time. We were then asked to change to another type of noodle and had to pay extra for it.
Most dishes were served in pitifully tiny portion, especially the beef salad. So were the fruit juices.
In general, it is pricey for the quantity of food they offer, and is not...
