5 Stars – A Hidden Gem of Italian Baking in Thảo Điền! Visit on Google Maps Peppe’s Forno
If you’re strolling through Thảo Điền and craving something authentically delicious, Peppe’s Forno is an absolute must-visit. This charming little bakery is a warm hug in pastry form — everything from the atmosphere to the selection radiates comfort and craftsmanship.
Pastry Heaven From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by rows of beautifully wrapped, artisanal cookies and biscuits. Think: sugar-free cantucci, chocolate chip cookies, amaretti, and buttery anise ciambelle. Everything looks handcrafted with love — and tastes like it too. The biscotti is perfectly crisp, and the amaretti have that chewy almond hit that makes you close your eyes and smile.
Doughnut Delight But the highlight of my visit was the pistachio cream doughnut. A soft, fluffy delight dusted with sugar and oozing with rich pistachio cream — this is hands down one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had in Saigon. Not too sweet, and incredibly satisfying.
Cozy Vibes & Friendly Staff The place itself is intimate and inviting, with a homely feel and kind staff who clearly care about every detail. You can sit and enjoy your treat with a glass of water while soaking in the peaceful ambiance — a perfect break from the city buzz.
Final Verdict Whether you’re looking to stock up on cookies for home or indulge in a fresh-baked treat on the spot, Peppe’s Forno hits the mark. This is Italian bakery magic, right in the heart of District 2.

My sister and I stopped in for a little treat and tried the tiramisu and tette delle monache. Both were soft, fluffy, and delicately balanced in flavor—perfect for those who prefer desserts that aren’t overly sugary. I loved every bite.

Read moreI ordered the focaccia and a pistachio maritozzo: The focaccia had an excellent base. Its surface was crisp and well-infused with olive oil, while the interior was soft and the flavor perfectly balanced. The texture was quite good, indicating high hydration. I learned that the owner cultivates their own sourdough starter. The pistachio maritozzo was wonderfully aromatic with the scent of pistachios. The bun was soft, and the smooth, rich cream, combined with crunchy pistachios, offered three delightful textural experiences simultaneously, which was truly interesting. The whipped cream was exceptionally well-made, feeling light and airy without any cloying richness.
I paired these with chamomile tea, which was fragrant and warm. The bakery's space was charmingly small yet airy. The staff were very cheerful, enthusiastic,...
