Madam Loan Restaurant - Vietnamese regional cuisine specialties — Restaurant in Ninh Bình Province

Probably my favourite restaurant in Tam Coc. If you get tired of the same tourist food that 95% of restaurants here seem to serve, come and give this place a go. They serve many dishes that cannot be found anywhere else in the area, which originate from up and down the country. Everything I tried here was very flavoursome, and the service was always excellent and prompt. Madam Loan is a wonderful chef and host, and appears to prepare all of the dishes by herself most of the time - extremely impressive considering the dishes dishes originate all the way from the North to the South of Vietnam. And her incredible smile has to be seen to be believed! But honestly, I think I could eat here every single day and never get tired of it. A truly outstanding establishment in a sea of same-same, mostly average (and often below average) restaurants. I walked past this place and there was quite a few people there....a few of them were saying they had been waiting a while... I decided to take my chances, and I'm really glad I did. Ordered the vietnamese central pancake and it was so delicious! The owner even came out to show me how to roll the rice paper and eat it correctly. I'm definitely not a fake review like the last two people have said....i think it was just a case of a lot of people arriving at once and only the owner and one other staff member trying to serve customers and cook for everyone at once.

When we arrived we set up our own table in front of the fan because it was really hot out. We took the settings from another table and menu. We were waiting but took the initiative to do it ourselves since we noticed it was a 11 year old working and taking orders. We ordered the bun cha, nem nuong, and the fixed fried rice. The fried rice was the best of the bunch. Everything else was just ok. I did really enjoy my mango passion fruit drink. It was delicious...
