Drawn here by the positive reviews, we decided to give Indian cuisine another go after we fell ill following a meal at a different restaurant.
First impressions was that it was expensive, with Hanoi beer over double that of other restaurants in the Tam Coc restaurant strip.
With hesitancy in mind, we just started by ordering naan bread and chicken tikka thinking we would order more once we tried those. The cheese, garlic and coriander naan not only smelt delicious, but it matches in taste.
Next was to try the chicken, upon my first bite the chicken texture was as if it was raw but it looked cooked. Thinking it may have been me, my husband also tried it and found the same that it was inedible. He tells me the chicken may have been boiler chicken as it was impossible to chew with the texture of uncooked meat.
We found a couple of pieces like this and quickly alerted the staff. It was their reaction that was disappointing. They asked what we wanted them to do about it, eventually offering a replacement but we just didn’t have the confidence in their meals so left without ordering more. I did leave the meat so the chef could try to determine what was wrong but no one seemed interested.
It should be noted, the pieces that were good...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem. The south Asian menu is on point. I ordered mutton roganjosh, prawn kardhai, aloo paratha, Gobi paratha and the cheese garlic coriander naan.
Food : Authentic. The best I had in Vietnam ( yes, better than Rasm or Dalcheeni or the usual suspects). Solid menu and I wish I had the time to get to know it better. But for now I'll stick with this as the best south Asian food I have had so far in Vietnam.
Service and Vibe : Good vibes kind of place. Super helpful. The front staff is attentive and the chef actually came down to help me decide between a couple of things since I wanted to check how one of the dishes I wanted gets prepared.
Price : Definitely on the more sensible side. Actually, it was cheap but then I don't know enough about how pricing is in Ninh Binh.
Drinks : I had people and they got this thing called the egg beer. One beer hater was converted.
Overall, I'm glad I ended up here and the place is epic. I'll probably come back to ninh Binh...
Read moreoverall wouldn’t recommend, wait was enormous, about 10 minutes to even order and another 50 to get drinks and the food(not a matter of crowd as there was not that many people). the food was at best mediocre, for a restaurant that prides itself as indian i expected something with a very strong taste and spiciness was once again disappointed as the food didn’t have any taste at all(butter chicken, tikka masala and garlic nan) i’ve never eaten something that bland and honestly cannot comprehend how it is possible for food with that strong spices to not have taste. waiter even asked if we wanted it spice or not, we ordered both options and they tasted basically the same. won’t be suprised if the 5 star ratings are just bots. Here’s my revolut payment to prove...
