The food here is genuinely very good and quite authentic—the flavours were spot on and clearly prepared with care and understanding of Indian flavours. However, the restaurant is priced on the higher side compared to others on the same road. For our meal and beers for two, we paid at least 300,000 VND more than what we spent elsewhere, including at restaurants inside luxury resorts like Camia or Anja, and other restaurants in the long beach area (where we often had cocktails) and even at other Indian restaurants on long beach.
Given that neither the ambience, table settings, cutlery nor the ingredients quite match that premium price point, the cost was definitely a pinch for us, as we found more refined table settings at other locations for half the cost, eg cloth napkins, table mats etc. Additionally, an 8% VAT/service charge was added to the bill, which we did not encounter at any other restaurant or establishment in Phu Quoc. That said, the food quality truly stood out, so I would recommend it if you’re visiting mainly for the flavours rather than the overall...
Read moreBeen in Vietnam for a while and fancied a change cuisine-wise. Came across this restaurant walking from my accommodation to the beach, and had to go to try it based on other reviews.
I had Handi chicken and garlic rice, amazing, full of the flavours of India, with soft chicken and rich sauce.. and then there’s the veg samosas - they are HUGE, crispy, and very, very tasty! Finished off with a soft chewy butter roti.
Couldn’t finish it all and the lovely owners boxed up the leftovers for me, that’s lunch tomorrow sorted too! I live in the UK and we have lots of great curry houses, I have to say this meal was up there with the best I’ve ever had & especially with the service being so lovely, and it was excellent value for money. (About £10 for a large curry, a large rice, a roti, the samosas and a beer)
Thank you hosts for a lovely dinner, first night in Phu Quoc so I’ll most likely be seeing you again...
Read moreI need to be honest, it was the worst Indian food I have ever tried. Starting from Lassi which was very watery and not really drinkable, distasteful Laita, and all dishes lacked flavours. Simply not good. How can all the dishes and drinks be equally bad? The service was soulless and he didn’t even ask if food was ok though we left so much. Moreover, dishes are more expensive than other better Indian places in Phu Quoc.
PS: My partner lived in India for many months, we tried many many Indian restaurants in many counties across regions, also in Vietnam and 3 other Indian restaurants in Phu Quoc which were all good. Food in general was very sloppy and lacked flavour as if you didn’t put enough spices. Especially drinks and Laita were extremely diluted. Unfortunately it wasn’t a enjoyable dining experience. I hope my review helps you to improve the quality of your food and...
