I visited this hotel on the 03rd December 2020 for 7 nights. Got an absolute bargain with TUI. Didn't know what to expect having not been to Phu Quoc before but i'am quite open minded. We opted for b&b having seen reviews of it being really cheap. ||||After the 12 hour flight from the UK we arrived earlier in the morning. The room was not quite ready but who cares. We went to explore and came back around an hour later and it was ready. The reason it wasn't ready when we arrived is because they said it was being cleaned but when we got in the room it was really dusty. After a few baby wipes it was all clean. ||||Like most reviews say the hotel is full of Russian guests. There were 4 people who were English when we went. They are not ignorant they just don't understand us and we don't them. English like to talk and smile to others they don't. My advise is don't try to interact with as pointless. Keep yourself to yourself as they do too. ||||Breakfast was ok. I don't really do breakfast but was somewhat choice of fruit. Cooked eggs.... bacon etc.... Spring rolls if they take your fancy at 07.00am ha! Fresh bread. Get down quick as it all goes and they don't replenish anything when it runs out. ||||The hotel speak very little English.... wi-fi was amazing at the hotel so you may be talking into a phone for it to be translated. It was quite comical. Google translate was my new best friend. ||||Two pools around hotel. The way the hotel is built means it doesn't get much sun. You have to keep moving your sunbeds. Phu Quoc is the windiest place i have ever been.... maybe this was rare but i am talking more than Cape Verde and Fuerteventura put together if you have even been there. ||||The restaurants near the hotels don't look much on the outside but try them. They are so nice and cheap. One of our favorites was Iris Cafe. Staff lovely and spoke good English to recommend food. We tried different local food every night. Starters and mains with a couple of g&t for two people £15 tops. I recommend Pho which is the Vietnamese soup its delicious. Its about £2 a bowl. ||||The currency is so confusing but the shop keepers help you and are honest to you. Few shops near hotels and a supermarket across the road. Shops selling the usual tourist gifts and good prices. The night market was not far in a taxi which we got outside hotel by waving hands in air. Took 15-20 minutes was about £5-7 each way. Plenty to bring you back. The night market is more food choices but again usually tourist crap too. Magnets.... local crafts.... paintings.... ||||The beach was a short walk too but not many sunbeds as the hotels on beach have them. If you don't mind laying on sand your fine. Didn't spend much time there. ||||I really enjoyed Phu Quoc and would definitely go back but not this hotel. It was just being the only English i felt out of place. The hotel has no evening entertainment or a pool bar. We was forever having to go across the road for drinks from shop. The staff are friendly though and always smiling and did their best to interact with us despite language barrier. ||||For a cheap break it was perfect and even going for a week with that long flight was still great. £500 each. I've looked into this area for this year and nowhere near these prices so was a one off i presume. ||||If you want a no frills hotel then the Praha is for you. A bed with decent air con and an ok breakfast.... if thats all you need then this...
Read moreStayed here 6 nights , this place unfortunately looks out dated , in need of plenty of maintenance and up keep. We got upgraded to what they referred to as a vip room , I would hate to be a real vip and get upgraded lol They upgraded due to booking this hotel with breakfast included but due to not enough people staying they canceled breakfast and advised we would need to eat out ( they did give a small refund to cover breakfast ) problem was due to being a quiet time of the year not many places were open this early for breakfast, also room upgrade due to this above problem. A whole empty hotel and we were the only people on level 3 it was great , quiet etc then they got a couple of bookings come in over weekend and they put these people who were very loud and noisy all hours of day and night , yelling from there balconies to each other and friends down below at front of establishment slamming doors, moving furniture all hours of the day scrapping along floor which we can here very loudly, when I complained to front of house about there excessive noise we were asked would we like to move , why should we have to move we had already been there 3 nights . We stayed here only due to tour company booking we did want to cancel when told we could not have breakfast our agent said leave with me and I will see what they can do , hence there version of a vip room ( rubbish ) . This is only my opinion of the place there will be others that loved the hotel . Staff tried there best but they need owners to help them , fix the problems paint the place , replace broken items. Cracked hand basin , one side of toaster not working and when it’s only a 4 sided toaster no good if 2 sides don’t work . Breakfast was nothing special , we were put off after first day we did get breakfast by guest yelling , talking loudly on phone , then to grab food using hands was purely disgusting we decided from then we won’t be going to breakfast , complained to front of house who had there tour guide speak to us , told him what they were doing he said he will talk to them about there behaviour ( note not much changed ) .
Do your home work if you have children go further north to the big resorts as nothing here for children
If like us a couple check out all hotels in area before deciding on this one , if up keep and maintenance done would be...
Read moreIf you’ve ever wanted to experience a hotel stay that feels like you’re the star of a reality TV show called “How Low Can Your Expectations Go?” then Praha Hotel is for you.
Let’s start with the buffet. You need tickets to get in, which sounds fancy, right? Too bad the staff doesn't care about the tickets you just bought. You walk up, hoping to feast on something resembling food, only to find that 95% of the buffet is gone. What’s left? The sad, unloved tomato trays. The staff only refills those. You could literally watch the same sad tray of mushy tomatoes be replenished three times while six other empty trays just sit there, waiting for their moment to shine (but they never do).
And the service? Oh, there is none. Tables are stacked with dirty plates and cups like it’s a scavenger hunt to find a clean spot to sit. The staff is casually hanging out in the corner, not doing much more than pretending to be part of a roleplay game where their character is a "hotel employee who is definitely not paid enough to care." You could try waving at them, but it’s more likely that they’ll just blink at you in slow motion like you’ve just asked them to solve a quantum physics equation.
Now, onto maintenance or as I like to call it, “What Maintenance?” There are actual holes in the walls. Not small ones, either. We’re talking craters. And the entire hotel smells like a combination of expired cigarettes and regret. It's like someone left an ashtray open and then forgot what air fresheners are. You don’t need to go to a spa for relaxation you just need to breathe in deeply in the hallway to immediately feel your life choices flash before your eyes.
Room keys? Oh, they’re an adventure too. Left unattended for days in a pile, like the hotel’s idea of "surprise check-ins." Who needs security when the only security measure is a broken camera hanging limply in the corner, like it’s just as done with this place as you are?
Honestly, I know it’s a 3-star hotel (google said so!), but this place feels like a 0.5-star hotel had a baby with a haunted house. Do I recommend it? Only if you’re into living dangerously, want to test your limits.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. But would I ever...
