Noname Bbq — Restaurant in Phú Quốc

Stayed in Phu Quoc near Ong Lang beach for 3 nights, and stumbled upon this place the first one, as it was by far the most packed. We were disappointed at first because the first 3 items we tried ordering were sold out already, but that’s just indicative of how good/fresh everything was. After lunch at another restaurant, we came back for dinner the second night and checked out their offerings displayed at the front before ordering, ordered only items we physically saw were available, and were NOT disappointed. We even tried returning for dinner on the third night, after having lunch at a different restaurant again but still being rather unimpressed by comparison, but unfortunately there wasn’t a table in sight. We opted for a more ambient, but less delicious restaurant up the road. Go for the grilled stuff, you won’t regret it. And their house made hot sauces were DELICIOUS! We got recommended by local people to come try the grilled seafood here and we were not disappointed. Seafood was fresh. I loved in particular the grilled squid and my husband enjoyed the grilled whole red snapper the most. Grilled prawns were nice and fresh too but the price of 100k per 100g seemed a little high (even for someone who is used to restaurant prices in Italy/Dubai/Hong Kong).

For the sides we had garlic fried rice which was excellent and stir fried morning glory which was also tasty. At one point we realised they have forgotten one of our ordered dishes, but they quickly corrected that and sent the dish within 10 minutes.

I didn’t read the Google reviews of this place until after we finished the dinner and we were very surprised to see people complaining about the staff’s attitude. They were all very nice and friendly to us. (To the point that when we rode past their restaurant on our motorbike the 2 subsequent days, one of the staff waved us by with a smile both days.)

The food is below average and the place is understaffed and very busy with patrons waiting for their food. Half the meal was very under cooked. The seafood was fresh but badly cooked - killed the taste.

My family and I waited for over 1 hour, after being served most of our food and having eaten it, for the rest of our dishes. We didn’t get them.

The staff don’t speak English at all and most of the time are shouting, in a hurry and provide really bad service. When they’re not doing that they look like they’re arguing with each other.

The 10 year old waitress/drinks maker was working quite hard at a job an adult should have been doing.

If you need something else to add to your food order, don’t bother. You tell them ten times and they still forget. I’m not exaggerating! Apparently it’s normal here - wish I’d known earlier.

It was a waste of money and time going here.

We left and finished our meal elsewhere.
