Hải Sản Bờ Biển — Restaurant in Vung Tau City

I came alone to this restaurant. As soon as I sat down a staff member came, gave me the menu and pointed at possible options. They seemed very impatient. Another staff member joined and observed me choosing. I ordered a drink first also to win some time making a choice. Yet another staff member came and urged me to order. I typed into Google translate to please give me more time. It was a very hot day and lunch time so I just ordered a seafood soup. The staff member wasn’t happy about my choice and again pointed at more pricy options. While waiting they tried to get me eating the peanuts which they bring to the table without you ordering them but they will charge you if you eat them. I said I don’t want them and again caused a very unhappy face. The (tiny) soup eventually came and was bland and gooey. I asked for fresh Chili which made it a bit better. Given the taste I was happy it was tiny. Altogether I cannot recommend the place. Maybe the other food is much better but the service is pushy rather...

A large group of us were brought here by our tour driver as we wanted fresh seafood.

Food: 4/5 - everyone enjoyed their fresh seafood dishes. The favorite was the steamed fish. One family member did the ordering and it took awhile to place our order as she needed to confirm the prices charged per pound. There were several plates of peanuts on the table which were not complimentary until the final bill came.

Service: 3/5 - we had to call them often to ask about our food and get extra service. When the final bill came, we found out we were also charged for every napkin, we opened from the packets. Plus we were overcharged on one dish. Beware when you get your bill. We were sure our driver go a certain cut of our bill total as he asked us how much we ate. We had bragging rights to say we each had a million dollar Vietnamese dollar lunch.

Atmosphere: 3/5 - it’s packed with local diners. It’s an open air concept with big fans...

Way overpriced! The seafood is fresh but once we picked out what we wanted and sat down, we saw the pricing posted on the wall. We called over our server and told them to hold off but they said it was already cooked. Was less than 1 minute after we picked our seafood from the aquarium. After our bill came they “made a mistake” by adding more weight to the seafood we chose. They apologize but I believe it was wasn’t inadvertence. I would never go here again....
