I was so surprised to find such a good Italian restaurant in Vũng Tàu. We arrived around 9 PM, and the restaurant was nearly full. We were lucky and thankful to a couple who saved us their table so we could sit together.
I noticed that the majority of customers were foreigners. The menu looked good, with a huge variety of options. I ordered a lot, and the food came out freshly made and quickly. Everything was so delicious that I forgot to take pictures of the dishes in their full appearance.
I loved the carpaccio—simple and light with fresh beef tenderloin, Parma cheese, light citrus sauce, and minced capers. The best dish, in my opinion, was the lasagne—absolutely the best I’ve ever had. The thin pasta layers were just al dente enough, the bolognese sauce was hearty and flavorful, and the melted cheese layer on top made for an unforgettable experience. I always order lasagne at Italian restaurants to gauge their flavor and style, and this one left me very satisfied and happy. Sometimes, a good dish can take your breath away and become a precious memory in life. I’m writing this review without having consumed any drinks—I just got emotional about one good dish.
The other dishes were also delicious. The pizza crust was thin and crispy at the edges, and the toppings were fresh. The homemade pasta was perfectly al dente. The spaghetti alle vongole was a bit too oily, but the ink spaghetti with salmon was good.
There are so many good things about this restaurant. We will definitely come back for more. Highly recommended
P.s: we did come back for more. It’s my first time ever trying the home made cavatelli pasta… a must try too.. not every Italian restaurant offers this...
Read moreWe visited Luca Pizza & Italian Restaurant on a Wednesday night. Good we had a reservation because the place filled up quickly during our visit. They have a large menu with a variety of salads, pastas, pizzas, and desserts, along with some "daily specials."
We opted for two different pizzas: a pepperoni/spicy salami and a vegetarian that we added added chicken and gorgonzola. The pizzas themselves were well-made, with a thin crust and crispy edges. However, both pizzas lacked flavor. The vegetarian option, a bit overloaded with toppings, and the topping being to chunky to be on a pizza. The salami pizza suffered the same fate taste wise, and we felt the pizza sauce was to anonymous. It could have benefited from a bolder flavor profile, perhaps with more garlic and oregano. The gorgonzola we added on the pizza also lacked flavor.
While the pizza delivery was a bit delayed (which didn't bother us initially or that we said anything about), the staff went above and beyond to make amends. They offered us a complimentary dessert - an absolutely delicious ice cream cake with nuts - and even discounted our bill.
Overall, Luca Pizza & Italian Restaurant wins points for its friendly and attentive service. The dessert was a real highlight. However, the pizza itself needs some improvement, particularly with the flavor of the sauce and the balance of toppings. With a few adjustments, this restaurant could be a great option for Italian food in Vung Tau.

Read moreThe difference a caring staff makes can change everything. We ate here tonight and ordered a pizza with ham, tomatoes and mushrooms along with a plate of gorgonzola gnocchi. Now the pizza was tasty. As others have noted, the crust, especially, is quite good. But the gnocchi started out as a disappointment. They were too soft to my liking and the sauce was far more bland cream than gorgonzola. HOWEVER... no sooner had I given up on the gnocchi, the manager, Carmine, happened over and asked how was our meal. After hearing about the gnocchi he immediately apologized and brought what was left to the kitchen. Moments later he was back to again apologize and agree that THAT gnocchi was not up to their standards. He asked if we'd like to try the cavatelli with gorgonzola sauce as a replacement. When that came as a replacement it was excellent. The distinct flavor of gorgonzola I have come to expect and nice, firm cavatelli pasta shells made right there in the kitchen. Color us happy diners.
