A siblings dinner - for brothers and sisters that live across Zambia and around the world -- a time where we wanted to have some bonding time, an indulgent meal, and a celebration for being all together. The setting could not have been more perfect. The food was exquisite -- perfectly prepared to our liking. We started with a special mixed grill and then ordered various steaks each with the temperature and other requests we specified. Beverages of all types were free-flowing throughout the evening. They even packed food as we had a few unexpected early departures. We ate and were treated like kings and queens. The service impeccable. This is definitely the best restaurant in Zambia at the moment and we tried many great places and stayed at what is considered the best hotel in town. The Fairgrounds setting is underrated itself. Simply driving in, weaving through the ballfields and the lush greenness that is rare during the dry season was such a special treat.
My only complaint and one where I choose not to deduct a star was the mosquito activity. They provided repellent but the mosquitos were vicious. It is to be expected since it is the fairgrounds, but you need to be prepared,...
Read moreThe place looked OK as the food itself, but 'Rhapsody' was deserted during dinner. For me, a place without guests is odd because I'm going out because of a buzz, being stranded by happy people, and having a different feeling than eating home alone or with a few friends/family. To continue, it's more appropriate to say that we were the only guests in such a vast restaurant, which felt awkward. The service (at least ours) was untrained, while at the same time the manager was more instructional than he wanted to help ('everything is ok, isn't it? As he was giving us an opinion instead of asking for one). Also, his phone was constantly ringing (with a terrible choice ringtone) while we were trying to pay the bill (with a card machine). Several dishes were unavailable, and we were given the wine list by talking. In the end, per se, it's still not a bad restaurant; but with all the abovementioned issues, it lost its mojo. That is why, I think, the owners might think hard about moving to a new spot, whether we heard that Rhapsody is 'more' visited...
Read moreWe ordered 1 rump steak and wedges and 1 wrap bacon and chicken with mash potato. The rump steak and chicken wrap were very dry, chewy and didn’t come with a side salad or a steak sauce. I was disappointed to see that the chicken wrap came with something similar to table sweet chili sauce. After complaining to the waiter, he did mention later that those were to be ordered separately. We also ordered a virgin mojito and mai tai cocktail which came in black label beer glasses. The mojito was flat and the mai tai was watered down (I requested for an additional shot, but nothing changed thereafter). Please work on improving your cocktails as well as your meals. If the sauces and extra side salads don’t come with the meal, they should be at-least...
