Sichuan Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Lusaka Province

We like Chinese but it has to be authentic. Our first visit was with a friend who grew up in China and ordered for us. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and prepared perfectly.

On a recent return with a large group, we sampled several dishes of different styles and spiciness. Again, well done. The true test of how good it was: we had nothing extra to bring home.

I would recommend the peppered prawns and the garlic beans.

Two items to mention, the restaurant is the second story of a large steel warehouse on the Lusaka Showgrounds. Parking is available inside, then walk upstairs into the dining area.

The other item is that it can be slightly stuffy. We were not unreasonably warm and could have asked for the aircon or to turn in a ceiling fan above us or even move to a table near the window. All were options, but we didn't bother. Others may want to be more cool, especially while eating...

Went in with zero expectations. Pleasantly surprised. Although the interior and decor is not worth writing home about, the food was a delight. We ordered corn soup, a fried chicken starter, chicken with black bean sauce, vegetable fried rice and mixed vegetable with garlic. Every item was well cooked and filled with flavour. Amazing! The food is amazing. Don’t go for the ambience though. Not that it matters so much to a goody like me that appreciates Chinese food or any Asian cuisine. That aside, the location of the restaurant is within a business park Showgrounds so your driver should be able to locate it if you are a tourist.
