Quite disappointed. Mostly because I didn’t even get a chance to eat my food — and I was really hungry. I got the salt and pepper squid and it was theeee driest meal ever, which is so crazy because *seafood? The squid had the texture of cornflakes. As in it was crumbling to dust and very abrasive. When our waitress noticed that I was struggling to get through my meal, she offered to take it back to the kitchen so that they could prepare another dish for me. Welp, the hostess came back to tell me that the chef and manager had both tasted the squid and concluded that the problem was my preference. She insisted that it had been cooked perfectly and was indeed, supposed to be THAT dry. 🧍♀️so she asked if they could offer me anything else… and I asked what it is they could offer me; it was a slice of cake. So after 40 minutes of waiting for my food (I attribute the waiting time to the fact that they probably had to make sure that the squid was in fact devoid of all moisture), all I had to eat was a slice of cake and some fries. The rice was so out of place and dry? Maybe it’s the Zimbabwean in me but ko soup? I won’t even (yet I am) get into the nitty gritty details of how the dish wasn’t accompanied by any lemon, something that could have helped tenderise the squid. I just had some tartar sauce that failed to live up to its definition; there wasn’t any tanginess to it.
My two stars go to the Kombucha. Not to be dramatic or anything but that was probably the best kombucha I’ve had in my life. The presentation of it could do away with the slice of apple on the side of the class but wowzers… that’s some great fermentation. I will most probably go back just to try the other one, hopefully then I’ll have a better experience with my food.
If my friend was writing this review she would have had a lot to say about the service she received. That’s...
Read moreThis is a fairly new and welcome addition to the Harare restaurant scene. We stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is set in the Hunter's Moon complex in Ridgeway, right next to the new Nandos drive through. The parking is a bit tight but well organised. There is a beautiful, well manicured garden, charming fairy lights, and indoor and outdoor seating. The pricing is quite fair and they have a guys menu selection which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a drinks menu. The apricot and ginger whiskey sour is probably the best I gave ever had and I will definitely be back for it. My friend had a garlic and chilli seafood pasta and I had the ribs, which were sticky, tender and delicious. They came with a side of fries and a light salad. The service was alright but we had to keep asking for certain things such as a hand bowl and salt etc. The bathrooms were unfortunately not clean when my friend first arrived. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. The outside can get noisy with bigger groups. The garden was popular for photos with the many birthday groups that were in attendance. It is child friendly, with a play area outside. Overall, a...
Read moreI am thoroughly impressed at Luna’s after a very pleasant experience. The food was unbelievably good. I usually go to Harare’s restaurants expecting to be over charged and underwhelmed but am very happy to report that Luna’s does not disappoint.
A few notes of improvement: Their prices could be sharper but they are not outrageous. (Except there is no reason for cocktails to cost $9). Online menu needs updating as some prices increased. They didn’t answer the phone any time I tried to book and after booking on WhatsApp the reservation wasn’t recorded. And for some reason our order for 2 took 45min to come. Luckily the food was so good it was worth the wait and still deserves a 5 star rating overall.
Highly recommend the veg cannelloni. Highly recommend the tagliatelle Alfredo. Highly highly recommend the chocolate brownie milkshake.
I also really appreciate their cool glassware. Nothing worse than getting a milkshake in the same glass everyone has at home.
And the free jug of icy water is such a simple thing that goes a long way to look after your customers.
Will definitely be back to try more of the menu and add...
