It is Bayside, so don't expect to surf or boogey board here. It is a slower, more gentle surf here with marked bouy lines indicating safe areas. It is shallow for quite awhile too so no fear of sudden drop-offs. This is a small place but good for kids or weak swimmers. . Amenities are scarce, so bring your own snacks and drinks, and be kind and responsible to pick up after yourself. I would enjoy seeing more trash cans because some folks are just nasty. There is only one shower tower so you will stand in line to use it. Bathrooms are poorly maintained with a hideous briney, slippery, urine soaked slime. Watch your kids or grandkids here. Footware is mandatory. I noticed several vehicles without placards or disabled plates in some handicapped spots, too. That's not so cool for some, including me,as I am a disabled combat vet. Overall it's a small but cool place if you pick good hours to go there because you can avoid most of the negative stuff I'm posting.

Ordinarily I'd give all free parks and beaches 5 stars simply because they are free but although this park is still quite aesthetic, the water is not the best to go into. There are even signs warning there may be hazardous material in there so enter at your own risk. There is also a bit of trash here and there but that's a people problem, not the park's fault. Swimming aside, this is still a very nice area just to walk around in the off season and enjoy the sand and the sound of the gentle waves. There are volleyball nets, restrooms, a lifeguard center, shelters, a couple of benches, and a kids playground. The kids playground is pirate themed and there's plenty of things for the kids to climb and burn energy on. There is one particularly whimsical looking tree across from the shelters that would be great for a photoshoot.

The playground was huge and lots of fun for my kids except there was no shade and it was 96 degrees. The park itself was decent but there was a lot of random adults with no children and things going on around the playground that set off my mom flags. That doesn't happen often but was confirmed by certain activities I viewed. Its unfortunate because the kids loved the park. There were pirate ships, a treehouse, some play tents, a built in scavenger hunt, lots of climbing and swings. There are restrooms but made my husband take my son and he advised me to wait until we got down the road to take my daughter. If it was a safer park I would rate it super high. It is unfortunate that such a great idea for kids is ruined by adults. I would visit again with my kids but keep them close. Maybe some patrol cars would help.
