It’s a nice little farm that’s pretty well organized. They have timely UPick cherries and other fruits and spread the word through their communication channels so people are in the know. They charge $5 for parking, $3 for a box if you don’t bring your own and $5 for step ladders. Instead of boxes that keep cherries fresh, they bag up your cherries which severely squashed my cherries and a lot of them went bad from bruising. Absolutely awful.
I’ve gone cherry picking with them a couple of years now, but this year (2023) both their prices and flavors were disappointing. I didn’t bother picking the bings or strawberry rainiers since they were so tasteless. The rainiers were the priciest and they weren’t honestly even sweet. Lots of farms in Yakima are becoming very greedy and despite freezes impacting their crops, I’ve seen Barrett Orchard raise their prices year over year but their flavors aren’t even that sweet. The size of the cherries are not bad, but all in all I don’t see their flavor or quality increasing, it’s just random increase in prices. So what’s the point? I picked rainiers but I’m not really getting any joy from eating them after all that work and long drive.
I’m not coming back next year and plan to drive a bit further for sweeter and better...
Read more2017 cherry season opened too soon. Rainer cherries were not ripe yet, just white no pink blush. Still sour note to them. Not fair to customers trusting they are ripe. Feel deceived. We'll be picking elsewhere next season.
After reading another shoppers story I need to tell the rest of mine too. I too picked cherries that the cashier messed up. She gave my cherries to another customer, even over my protests. I paid for my cherries and got the other customers cherries that were significantly less in pounds. When the girl finally listened to me, she actually offered to run after the other customers to take my cherries back! Can u imagine the other customers reaction to this?! I had to step in and do the professional thing by letting it go. No way was I involving the other elderly customers in my drama. I did contact the owners about the situation so they could solve the problem in the future. Now I see that someone else had the same thing happen a month later. Way to go Washington Fruit! I'll...
Read moreVery homey, prices a little high but with speciality stores you have to expect it. The staff is very helpful also. Nice decor too. UPDATE: Looks can be deceiving, a box of apples were purchased and sent to Palmer, AL., for my brother and his family. The problem was Washington Fruit screwed up the order, hence ruining the Christmas gift for them. When we tried to get a refund, oh they don't do that. The idiot owner just sent a bunch of sub standard apples figuring that would fix the problem, NOT. Anyways, it amazes me how a business thinks they can ruin a Christmas gift for someone and act like it's no biggie. We won't purchase anything from them again. Oh, trying to contact someone after December by phone good luck. They close for like 3 or 4 months, then reopen... so by then it's too late to get anything done. I got the owners cell phone number from a worker I found one day when driving out to the shop looking for someone. It's a pretty good scam for Barrett Fruits, it definitely screws...
