If I could give zero stars I would.
We waited about 20 minutes in line to order. I asked the barista if they had sugar-free Gold Lotus, which she confirmed. So we ordered two sugar-free Gold Lotus drinks, barista’s choice of flavor.
After pulling away, we each took a sip and immediately realized the drinks tasted way too sweet to be sugar-free. My husband walked up to the window on foot (since another car was already there) and asked if they were sugar-free. The barista admitted they were not. So he got back in the car, and we waited through another 20-minute line to get the order corrected.
When we finally got back to the window, we handed the drinks back and explained they had been made wrong. Instead of apologizing or fixing the mistake, the barista acted annoyed, was rude, and said she would have to charge us again — claiming we had "already drank out of them." I'm not sure how else we were supposed to realize they weren’t sugar-free? We literally took one sip each because we weren’t about to risk our health drinking more without confirming.
She then said we hadn’t ordered sugar-free. We explained (again) that we had specifically asked and even discussed it at the time of ordering.
I asked for the manager, who had been standing within earshot. I explained that my husband is diabetic and I am reactive hypoglycemic — neither of us can medically have sugar — and we were very clear with our order. The manager still said they would have to charge us to "recoup their money for the drinks." She claimed the barista “didn’t hear us” ask for sugar-free.
Why would I waste all this time trying to hustle a free drink when I had already paid for two drinks I couldn’t even have?
After seeing how unwilling they were to take responsibility, we finally gave up on them correcting the mistake and asked for a full refund. They refunded the base drink prices but kept the tip money, which feels incredibly shady given the situation.
To top it off, Coffee City’s line was painfully slow (over 40 minutes wasted total) and the customer service was awful.
We ended up going to C&S Espresso just down the street — they were just as busy, but someone came out to the cars with a smile to take orders, and by the time you pulled up to the window, your drink was ready. Friendly, fast, and professional — the way it should be. Plus, they had a fabulous menu!
Bottom line: Coffee City is slow, rude, and refuses to own their mistakes. We...
Read moreThis is there second location called COFFEE CITY I’m going to start by saying such horrible service management, we stopped by on Christmas day because very limited coffee shops open that being said got a iced drink all I tasted was cinnamon so I called and spoke with the manager Emily and she said (oh was it to sweet) I said no it tasted like Coffe and overpowering taste of cinnamon she said we close in 10 minutes so I said can I go tomorrow I’ll take the drink back she said it’s fine come before 11 and toss the drink. I saved the drink and took it back the next morning and gave them the drink and she kept telling me the drink I got was too sweet for future reference which I replied, and said no, it’s too cinnamony all I can taste the cinnamon and that drink! So she had a bit of an attitude I asked for a different drink and said remember that’s also very sweet and I told her I never had a problem with the first one being sweet it was just over powered with cinnamon then I asked her for a pup cup got a little tiny little cup and she said I’m gonna have to charge you $.50 for the pup cup for my dog! When I tell you it was my first & only time going here never again, will I go to this coffee shop this was a last resort, Coffee shops were open on Christmas day very limited places where opened! I will never ever go to this coffee shop again! Thank you EMILY for making me not spend my money here again!!!! Read moreRude baristas. I ordered an Italian soda with lemonade powder this morning and was not given lemonade powder. So, I went back a few hours later and ordered the same drink and paid for it again, I didn’t complain about the first drink, I just wanted to have my drink for the day since it’s my favorite. The drink again came without lemonade powder. This time, I asked for it to be remade with lemonade powder mixed in. She literally dumped it on top and it hardened in these nice big globs pictured. As a barista myself I know it’s annoying when people ask for their drink to be remade but it happened twice in a row and I paid both times for the...
