This cruise port was awful. People everywhere harassing you and peddlers everywhere. The atmosphere was terribly sketchy. Our morning began by searching for a ride to Dickinson Bay. The first “Driver” we spoke to told us he’d take us there. He made me u comfortable and set off my internal red flags. I attempted to find a driver who seemed more reputable. I began speaking to someone else and the 1st guy follows our group and begun to complain to us because he spoke to us first. I felt a little bad and thought, maybe he is just poor and needed the money. We agreed to allow the 1st driver to take us, under reservation, but began to follow him to his cars. Finally, two blocks away (way out of the way from all the other drivers taxis) he begins to lead our group down an alley away from shops and downtown. This is when I was absolutely terrified and just turned around and walked away. I went back to the more reputable driver who tells us he will take us to Dickinson Bay. He loads our party into his sweltering hot van and tells us to wait while he finds more people to fill it. About 10-15 minutes later he comes back with a group who wants to go to a different beach than us. The driver begins to try and persuade us that the other beach is much nicer and we will like it better. After several minutes of telling him we’d like to go to our original location, we decided to just give in and go to the other one. We arrive at Runaway Beach and the driver walks into the bar and tells older lady behind the bar “ I brought you some people” This is when I realized the driver had ulterior motive for taking us to this specific location. The beach was very pretty, but there was literally NOTHING to do and the bar on site was not great. See my review of Mystic Beach Bar. Lesson learned: stick to your original plan, find a driver in a taxi uniform instead...

The Antigua Cruise Ship Port, situated in the capital city of St. John’s, offers a vibrant gateway for cruise passengers exploring the island of Antigua. Upon arrival, you are greeted by a picturesque harbor surrounded by colorful buildings and the stunning backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. The port itself is well-organized, with multiple berths able to accommodate large cruise ships, ensuring a smooth disembarkation process for passengers.

One of the port’s best features is its proximity to St. John’s city center. Just a short walk from the cruise terminal, you’ll find a variety of shops, markets, and local attractions. The Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay shopping areas are popular with tourists, offering everything from duty-free luxury goods to locally made crafts and souvenirs. For those interested in history, the nearby Museum of Antigua and Barbuda provides insight into the island’s rich cultural heritage.

The facilities at the Antigua Cruise Ship Port are clean and well-maintained. There are numerous vendors offering excursions to explore the island, whether you’re looking for a beach day, a tour of historic sites like Nelson’s Dockyard, or an adventure into the island’s lush rainforest. Taxis and shuttle services are readily available, making it easy to get around the island.

One of the highlights of the port is the warm welcome from the locals, who are friendly and eager to share their island with visitors. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the beauty of Antigua’s natural landscape, makes the port experience enjoyable and stress-free.

Overall, the Antigua Cruise Ship Port provides an excellent first impression of the island. Its convenient location, well-maintained facilities, and access to local attractions make it a great starting point for any...

The St Johns Cruise Port is the berthing dock for cruise ships and it is located in the St. John's Harbour in Antigua. There are several aspects of the cruise port; the shopping areas of Heritage Quay, Redcliffe Quay and the Saint John's Capital city among others. Cruise Ships dock at the Deepwater Harbour Port (Antigua Port Authority), Heritage Quay and at the Nevis Street Dock as well. There seem to be berths for a maximum of five mega cruise liners and the port has been retrofitted to accommodate the new quantum class cruise ships. The scenic view of Antigua from the ships is simply breathtaking and an added bonus to the whole experience.

There are lots of land based activities available to the traveler and I notice many visitors venturing through out the city; visiting historic and other attractions in St. John's and beyond, shopping or simply exploring the city on foot. Shoping in the duty areas of Heritage Quay an Redcliffe Quay is also popular, The Shops and Businesses in the city are patronized also. Pre-booked tours and excursions are also done additionally on-the-spot tours can be arranged with a taxi driver or tour operator.

There are lots to do in Antigua and visitors sometimes just want to enjoy a beach (or a beach bar/restaurant) or explore for an extended stay. More and more the travelling experience in Antigua is improving the maturing destination has many facets for the traveler of diverse taste and interests will all have a...

Very nice port, accommodated the ship well. After you get off the ship it is a short walk to the shops. They had entertainment right on the street, photo opportunities at hand too. There were security and police that were noticable. LOTS of sales people hawking taxis, trips to the beach, tours etc. TOO many hawkers. Interestingly after 150 ft or so you leave the "security zone" and bam you're in the real St Thomas - proverty and run down properties. Shocking to see the contrast. We didn't walk too far and then we went back to the ship. The hawkers are more aggressive and persistant. We didn't feel safe and the streets and sidewalks are dangerous. Big holes, uneven surfaces, huge steps, open ditches, bad drivets. Too much opportunity to fall or twist an ankle or knee or your whole leg.
