Booked a ghost tour with Haunted Horizons after all the reviews seemed good. My family and I have been on multiple ghost tours to Sydney's Quarantine station and ghost tours overseas. This tour wasn't that great which was disappointing. The place itself is creepy and has a very eerie feeling/lots of residual energy which makes it scary. The not so great part was the tour/guide. She spoke alot about using hunting equipment and plugging her YouTube channel which took away from the stories about the place. Which leads me to my next bit - while the guide stated it was a ghost tour, all she did was talk about other people's experiences on other tours instead of the ghosts and spirits that make the place creepy. All of the other ghost tours I have been on discuss the characters that haunt the place, which makes the tour both historically interesting and ramps up the creepiness. While i understand it is a ghost tour, I don't book them to know what happened to Jane Doe and John Doe 3 months ago when they visited, i want to know about the killer from cell 43 and what put him there. To improve this tour, I think they need to learn a bit more about the history of the place and its prisoners to incorporate this into the tours, otherwise the information...
Read moreComing from someone who doesn't believe in the paranormal I only thought going to Ward Z would be a nice little local history lesson, and of course a chance to be amused by other people being scared of nothing.
Instead it was a fun filled night. Our group had the gorgeous and fearless Simone as our guide, with cool and calm Troy her trusty support. Simone enthralled us with tales of the building and spooky happenings encountered by visitors and guides alike.
The tour was followed with a paranormal investigation, we were given many tools to use and sad in the hall calling out to the darkness. We lucked out and one specific little proximity device that would play a little melody continued to go off in one cell.
I think the night tour and paranormal investigation definitely suits both those who believe in the paranormal or people like myself who just enjoy some spooky stories and locations.
I'll definitely be recommending the tour to my friends and hopefully tagging along...
Read moreThe z ward itself is a great piece of South Australians history. Although it's quite a small building, it's a shame that there's no original furnishings still there and that some of the cells were being used for storage The actual ghost tour wasnt what we expected, we attended as a group of 4 and unfortunately we all found it a little tedious. FYI Dress Warmly. Our tour was on a pretty cold night and it was freezing in the z ward. Would have loved to hear more history and the day to day runnings of the Z ward. Perhaps learning about some of the crimes that the prisoners had committed, or talking about certain prisoner events that occurred in specific cells/ areas of the Z ward would have been a bit more engaging, as we found it a little repetitive as a lot of the tour focused on talking about ghostly 'happenings' that had occurred on previous...
