Alexandra Gardens is a spectacular park in Ararat, Victoria with a lot to offer. An incredible multi level walk-in fernery slopes down toward the terraced lawns and ornamental lake. An 800m pram/wheelchair-friendly walking track makes its way around the lake, across pretty bridges and through the Japanese themed islands. Close to the fernery lies a fantastic playground with lots of unique play equipment, toddler play space and shade sails.

Alexandra Gardens are worth visiting for the walk-in fernery alone. Sealed, narrow walking tracks wind their way through the beautiful ferns, vines, stones and water features. There are many different tracks, turns, steps and corridors to explore within a fairly compact area. See if you can find the stone-lined cave hidden amongst the impressive array of plants. This fernery will make you feel as though you have stepped right into a rainforest, and is a credit to the...

Lovely Park with a large Lake. Ideal for adults, kids and families. Large playground for the kids. Built in undercover BBQ areas, lots of table & chairs and nice grassed areas throughout the 'gardens' making it ideal for BBQ's, picnics, quick lunch breaks, there is even a Café within the park. Has a lovely walking track around the lake. It has beautiful established trees and gardens so not ideal for ball games. However it borders (2 minute walk from gardens) the local football oval which is assessable for ball games when not being used by sports club. Local outdoor swimming pool is also within/bordering gardens $5 entry. Just across the road (again 2 minute walk) is skate park suitable for skates, skateboards,...

We have stopped here many times over the years. It is a great park to have a break, a playground with shade sail, toilets clean, a small cafe. A lake surrounded by lush green grass and even a small hill for the kids and young at heart to roll down. The beautiful big old shade trees are wonderful next to roses and plenty of other lovely plants. The lake even has its own island ( I liked it better with all the trees and lush plants it was like a jungle) The caretakers and volunteers have done an excellent job. Thankyou for this...

After I did the tour at J Ward across the road (which was brilliant by the way) I brought my picnic lunch here and sat at the tables and watched the ducks and swan mum and dad with their 6 babies. There is a cafe to get lunch, coffee and ice cream and good clean toilets. Shame some of the garden has fallen into disrepair but it is still lovely to have lunch and go for a walk on the well maintained sealed pathway. My visit tired in perfectly with the Gaol visit and having lunch in the gardens was an added bonus

It's such a lovely lake & garden Ararat you are so lucky to have such a beautiful park. The on-site Cafe, which is just past the 'playground', have lovely coffee and serve light lunches & snacks making it a perfect spot to stop on way through town to Melbourne or Adelaide. It also has a 'pool' too if you feel like a dip. Absolutely Beautiful ❤️ skip Maccas & check out the gardens.
