⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ J Ward Tour – Absolutely Unmissable!

If you're in Ararat and looking for an unforgettable, eerie, and thrilling experience, look no further than J Ward! This was hands down one of the best tours we've ever done, and a huge part of that was thanks to the absolutely incredible Bryan—the best tour guide EVER!

From the moment we stepped inside, Bryan brought J Ward’s dark history to life with his unbelievable knowledge, captivating storytelling, and perfect balance of humor and intensity. His passion for the history of the asylum was beyond impressive, and his ability to weave together chilling stories, historical facts, and personal insights made the experience completely immersive. We were hanging onto every word!

The asylum itself is fascinating, eerie, and full of atmosphere, and Bryan made sure we felt the weight of its history while still keeping the experience engaging and fun. We left feeling awestruck, spooked, and totally in love with the history of J Ward.

And let’s not forget the stunning gardens opposite J Ward—a beautiful, peaceful contrast to the asylum’s haunting energy. It was the perfect place to gather our thoughts after such an incredible tour.

This was one of the best experiences we’ve had in Ararat, and we cannot recommend it enough! If you do one thing in Ararat, MAKE IT J WARD—especially if Bryan is leading the way! Thank you so much to Bryan and the K Ward staff from Miah Scott and...

My sister, friend and I went on this tour while we were in the Grampians. We actually did this as a spur of the moment decision, as we were booked into a ghost tour at the Aradale asylum that night. We decided to do the J Ward tour as we saw that this tour offered a lot of things that are not offered at the asylum. Obviously, they are two completely different places, but I would really highly recommend the J Ward as a place where you get an amazing historical understanding of the treatment of people with mental illnesses up until unfortunately the 1990s. We were very lucky to have Graham as our tour guide - he was amazing! He had great stories, a brilliant understanding of the history and you can tell that he is passionate about the prison. We were lucky also to be part of a very small group, a total of seven people including us. This tour is highly recommended, completely run by volunteers but really well preserved. This place has a fascinating history, and was a really great two hours spent. You can also book time to do research if you are interested, but this is only available on certain days, however if you’re a history buff, it certainly would be a great place to find out a bit more about the dark history of...

Visited here with my partner and did the J Ward Lunatic Asylum tour at 9pm.

We had a great time and the lady tour guide and the man locking the doors behind us as we did the tour did an amazing job.

The stories, vibe, and scenery were just amazing. We got along with the man locking the doors, he was great to talk to and get along with.

They also shown a documentary at the end of the tour which shows real life footage of the stories told during the tour (won't forget one-eyed George!).

You are also given Dowsing Rods and EMF Emitters which was a bit out of me and my partners comfort zone as we normally like to be at the back of the group, but I gave in and participated and turned out to be really fun and it was really inclusive and you don't feel left out at all.

Well done guys, you do an amazing job and your position is much appreciated.

10/10...

I selected to do a guided tour rather than wonder around on my own. It was really great and well worth the money, especially since all ticket sales go towards maintaining the place. I was lucky to be the only one there on Sunday afternoon, so I got the VIP experience with Harry. I found him to be very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer any questions I had. Harry had plenty of stories to tell and even his very own personal link to JWard. I got to wander around the jail section by myself for 15mins at one point but the highlight was getting to go up into the guard tower. I recommend doing a guided tour as you'll get to see sections of the place that you'll not be able to see wandering around on your own.
