Meals were quite good. Reasonable prices. Good service.
The last time I was there few months ago, the boss-lady was very rude, and borderline abusive. When we walk in, we done all the normal check-in and wearing a mask, as per requirement by the Health Department at the time, and the girl at the counter was friendly as usual, because we being there about once a month, or every second month, for years. When we try to sit down, the boss-lady came out from the kitchen, didn't even greet us, she was like yelling on my face, "Show me your vaccine certificate." While I bring up the Victoria Service App, she kept saying with high voice like talking to naughty kids, "Show me certificate, show me certificate..." After we sat down, there was a group of about 10 persons came in, the boss-lady was there, she didn't even asked any one of the persons to show their certificate???? I was wondering why she picked on us. I was thinking of walking out, but we are a bit hungry, so decided to have our meal, don't want to allowed her bad behavior to spoiled our evening. All this years we being there, spoke to the boss quite a few times, he always quite good to talked to, when he wasn't busy, he always came asked us about how was the meal, that is the reason we went back again and again. Since then, we haven't been back there over 3 months now. Hopefully the boss-lady learned how to talk to others properly, but...

After a day of exploring the charming town of Ararat, we were lucky enough to discover Taste of Peking, and what an absolute gem it is! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The food? Simply phenomenal. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly balanced and expertly prepared. The quality and freshness of the ingredients shone through in every bite, making it, without a doubt, the best Chinese food weāve ever had. From crispy, golden spring rolls to the most tender and flavorful Mongolian beef, every dish was a delight. The sweet and sour pork was perfectly crispy, and the fried rice was packed with deliciousnessāeach mouthful better than the last.
The service was impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who ensured everything was perfect from start to finish. They were more than happy to offer recommendations and made sure we felt right at home.
Whether youāre a local or just passing through Ararat, Taste of Peking is an absolute must-visit. A perfect way to end a great day, with mouthwatering food, a cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service. Weāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOVERPRICED & OVER-RATED. $103 For 3 dishes, a soup, and some steamed rice. Salt and Pepper squid. - clearly supermarket purchased salt and pepper squid(see pic 1). No salt and pepper seasoning, onions not cooked. Honey chicken. -fried lumps of battered chicken undercooked (see pic 2), no honey used whatsoever, made with sugar syrup ..... Note to owner - sweet does not equal honey flavoured. Bbq pork in plum sauce. - Pork was too thick, was chewy, and only tasted like bbq pork... there was nothing even remotely plummy about the sauce, only a slight tang. It was plum coloured, this does not give them right to say it's plum sauce. Vegies barely heated. Wonton Soup - apparently was good.
$103 wasted. I feel sorry for the town of Ararat if they think this crap is good Chinese food.
NEVER GOING BACK. Shopping centre Chinese is FAR superior to this. Oh and did I say it was OVERPRICED AND...
