Read moreThis area is really quite beautiful but this time of the year it is just too busy! We took our Labrador with us so he could have a run with the other pups and have a dip in then ocean water. It was so busy that we parked a 3km walk away but it was worth it to be in the sunshine. When we got to the off leash dog park we let our boy off so he could have a run with the other dogs and a play. He found a dog to play with but this other dog didn't want to play, he bit my dog on the back and mouth, my boy was bleeding from the mouth and had fur missing. The owner quickly came and helped, apologised and took her dog home, the other owners were very kind and helpful, we left and went to the water for a wee swim and to rinse his mouth out. Thankfully he was and is ok, and we won't stop going on adventures, I just think Decker Park is a little too busy at times and the animals get too excited, lovely...
Read moreI love Decker Park. A fantastic spot for family picnics, leisurely walks, fitness, dogs, games, etc, being SADLY TRASHED by visitors. My main gripe is waste management! Not enough bins, and folks really don’t know how to clean up after themselves or sort their rubbish for recycling. The recycling bin was filled with soft plastic bags and food scraps, the landfill bin had heaps of recyclables in it! In 10 minutes I picked up a bucket full of waste that was littering the foreshore area (plastic forks, food scraps, lunch wrappers, balloons, candy wrappers, straws, drink popper plastic sleeves, lollipop sticks, plastic cups, drink containers, styrofoam) The ibises were scavenging from overflowing bins, with lids left open, causing more mess. 😡 So disappointed by the litter! Use it, don’t abuse it!! Teach your kids to put their rubbish in the bin, not leave it on...
