Pretty upset with my experience here, I went 2 days ago and ordered an avocado bagel for over $10 ($21.50 in total for a coffee and bagel) and it was inedible. The cream cheese and avo was so thick + too much nuts and feta was used and I couldn’t eat it without feeling sick.
I called up to let the owner know what her young staff member made and how I wasn’t happy for spending so much of my money on something I really couldn’t eat and the owners response was “I don’t have a background in food so it’s hard for us to get it right” “it’s hard to train 14 year olds”
You are a cafe selling food. If you can’t make simple breakfast items or be confident in your own skills to train 14 year old staff members then don’t have cafe that sells food or get professional help, pre-made things or just hire older people with experience or don’t make food.
Taking money from people and not offering any thing to rectify the problem besides playing the blame game is horrible. Especially when it was you guys in the wrong
This isn’t the first time that their food was bad, I also had a bacon and egg muffin that was so rock hard it hurt my teeth when I bit into it.
I also sent a message on their Facebook page asking if there could be any way to rectify the situation and I’ve just been ignored.
Stay away from this place!
Edit after owners response
Hey Lea, thank you for taking the time to reply on google. If you can’t access the Facebook page I believe you can send a report to Facebook and get it closed down, this may confuse your customers in the future.
I was mostly upset about how you handled the phone call you were making excuses rather than wanting to solve the issue which simply would have been a refund/replacement on that day.
This economy is harsh on the customer too with the prices being so high.
I haven’t just “worked” in 3 cafes like your reply says which is quite offensive.
I operated two at once with no prior experience of owning or running a shop either, so yes I do understand how hard it is as a small business to run and that’s why I called you to give you my feedback in a kind way ( I was nice during the call and even apologising at the end of our call because it felt like an inconvenience for yourself, not once was I being confronting.)
I apologise with how this review is harsh and upfront but please understand that having food that expensive and not up to quality will upset customers, especially if no refund/replacement is offered when they speak with you...
Read moreI want to put this review in context. Blume cafe is a tiny little hole in the wall and that's perfectly fine. If you're wanting a large, a la carte kitchen to freshly make everything on the spot then this isn't the place for you - they don't order in all offerings, but instead make it fresh in advance. With that said, they did go out of their way to cater to my partner's food allergies. I would like to say the coffee blend was amazing and stood out in a world full of cafes selling burnt tasting rubbish (maybe that's your preference). The atmosphere was cheerful and had some activities on hand for kids, seating was quaint but they also had a couch and a couple of other, more padded chairs. The staff were really lovely and the prices were very reasonable. Their Reuben is a spin on the classic and really enjoyable.
The location is just across from the water front and The Men's Shed but you might miss Blume if you don't know to look for it, which would be a shame. Easily the best cafe I've been to in the last six months and I recommend it, just don't expect something closer to a restaurant with an...
Read moreThis is a bit of a hidden gem amongst the many fancy coffee shops that are popping up everywhere. For a start, it is a very small place that sits right on the main road with only very few tables inside and an outdoor high chair area to sip your coffee. There's parking at the front or in the side street.
The coffee is very good. That's just that. A real treat for Brighton! If you do have some spare time you should try and get a table enjoy one of their breakfast treats.
They try to be that little bit different to your standard Egg Benedicts (yes they do have them, too) , Bacon and Eggs stuff you find everywhere. Presentation is on another level and the combinations just work. Everything tastes fantastic.
The interior itself is very basic but it works. And did I mention it's rather small? :)
Be there early to beat the crowd or simply avoid the weekends and you'll be in...
