There are too much hype and exaggeration about this park. Don't get me wrong. As a Western Australian, I am proud to have this beautiful park being one of Perth's landmarks. However, the park is so isolated. It is not easy to reach the park for family with small children.
It is understood that the intention is for the people to visit the stadium and the park by public transport or bike. This is a good idea and I support it. Yet, it seems that there is a gap between idea and reality.
This park was designed with children as the main user. Families with children would love to visit this park even when there is no event in the stadium. However, the parking area is so far away from the park.
Imagine how the children are walking during a hot day from the parking lot to the park. Also, the closest parking area does not have too many parking spots. In addition, there is lack of public transport going to the park if there is no event in the stadium.
The park itself is beautiful. Yet, it lacks of play equipments. The play equipments are not adequate for such a huge park. Compared to Donnybrook Apple fun park and Kwinana adventure park, Chevron park is nothing.
