I have been coming to the Botanical Gardens for over 20 years and Im here most mornings to doing my power walk. I love thats its not crowded that early of the morning and I'm not having to constantly dodge people. The whole place itself is just beautiful, free entry, loads of parking, as I'm such a nature lover I feel right at home amongst the trees, gardens and the beautiful lake and not to mention the wild life just going about their daily business, I could just sit and watch for hours, and there is plenty of shade from the trees to escape the sun. There are great walking tracks which are all beautifully kept and its an easy place to get around, fantastic for people in who aren't so steady on their feet or who are in Wheelchairs and for those pushing prams. Wonderful place for your children to wander and explore and see the many birds, the turtles and fish and lots of lizards and water dragons getting around, ( not in these cold months as they tend to hibernate) The children can ride their little scooters, as there is plenty of flat concrete paths to learn to ride on, there is a great little playground for them to play, with easy parking for the parents and toilets close by the play ground area too. There is a large well kept doggy area down the back for your dogs to run freely and play and so they can burn off all that energy, its all off leash and they have a huge lake for the dogs to swim and play in, its their own little slice of heaven. I just wish they would put some seating down near the doggy lake for some elderly to sit and watch their dogs. There are public toilets near the childrens play area and also some up near the exit on the left when you leave. They provide clean drinking water ( near the toilets where the play ground is ) from the water bubbler, where you can fill your bottles and there is drinking water for your dogs also and poop bags provided for them too with plenty of bins for rubbish. There are lots of little picnic spots and seating around and also gas BBQs provided which are cleaned everyday. Also there is a little Cafe to meet up with your friends and to get that much needed Coffee. Honestly I could go on forever, well I think I just did, but you certainly wont be...
Read moreWas not impressed with the botanic gardens at Gold Coast. Our local botanic gardens which is in a small country town is just outstanding and we can spend hours there so I was expecting a massive WOW when coming here but unfortunately we left within half hour of arriving after doing the entire ( what felt like the shortest walk ever ) trail track and boadwalk in the photos I'll add, which I thought was the ' entrance ' into the area around the carpark, unfortunately this was the most exciting part, the rest of the walk was through a petty little bush behind the Cafe backed onto people's houses in not so much of a peaceful walk being people mowing / TV/ general living sounds which wasn't so sweet, was just totally bummed by the gardens it self and was expecting ALOT more. We left and decided to go to rockpools with our toddler and had a way better time. Just way to short and ' boring ' to...
Read moreIt’s my first time here and I rode my bicycle around the gardens. I like the open spaces, quiet environment, all the labels on the trees and plants, the boardwalk is quite beautiful. Looks like it’s still developing over the back, there is some parking space at the back, it’s not very busy, there is a coffee shop with 3 thirty minute spaces, there are a few dirt trails to walk, it’s not a large botanical gardens and it looks pretty new. I feel like it needs to have something WOW maybe a tribute to the rainforest because it’s all bush like plants and trees in my opinion. Maybe more animals and a few massive trees. It’s wheelchair accessible and dog friendly in certain parts intact there is an off leash area at the back. There is a good source of information about the surroundings in various places around...
