Coffee At The Gardens — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Horrible coffee and even worse service. Seems you're only welcome here if you're over 65 years of age? Everyone else is treated as an inconvenience. We were asked to leave so a senior citizen could take our seat, even though we hadn't finished the overpriced coffee that had taken 20 minutes to receive, and no they weren't busy!

A note to the owner: I have cancer and have been to unwell to leave my home on most days! Today I dragged myself with a friend to your coffee shop to enjoy some conversation, coffee and sunshine! I got none of that. Instead after paying for ridiculously overpriced, ghastly tasting coffee, we were ushered off the deck as quickly as possible so your handful of senior citizen customers had somewhere to sit?! Apparently the dozen empty seats and benches wasn't enough space for them? You should try treating all your customers as a priority? Also maybe hang a sign in your carpark reminding them that a carpark is not a safe place to congregate in groups conversing and than complain when cars drive to close to them trying to get out?!

I have been to this cafe a number of times over many years and every time I vow never to return. It is such a unique setting and could be such a wonderful and successful business but is totally wasted on these operators. The coffee is undrinkable, tea is a teabag thrown into a paper cup and the tiny number of food offerings are not worth considering. As the coffee I’ve ordered in the past has ended up in the bin, I ordered hot chocolate yesterday. It was scalding hot Milo. Milo may be a nice drink but it is NOT chocolate! It is a chocolate flavoured cereal drink. Served in a very small paper cup for $7 no-one would say it was value for money. The tables and chairs that were on the deck are gone replaced by heavy wooden benches with no backs. Most uncomfortable. This place has always been overpriced and the quality non-existent but now it is beyond bad. Council or Botanic Gardens Committee - GET RID OF THESE...

What a waste of $40.. please save your money. We ordered two coffees, 2 scones and a banana bread. Banana bread came out after ten minutes, 'toasted' but with ice cold butter balancing on a knife. The definitely not home made (from taste) scones came tumbling out on separate plates another ten minutes later... And then confusion as to what else we had ordered. With two people behind the coffee machine and no other orders waiting I thought this would have been the easiest part.. alas no. Another five minutes go by until the coffees are presented. While I'm with my now crying toddler who has shown a fair bit of patience until now my partner is given the coffees also to juggle along with everything else. I asked for a coffee cup tray and was met with a roll of eyes. Never again. I'd recommend to train staff ahead of a shift, not on the busiest day...
