Many years ago, Mawson Park had a reputation (perhaps not entirely deserved) of being a place that was best avoided, being the haunt of druggies, drunks, and vagrants. Today it is a pleasant family-friendly place, a true ornament to Campbelltown.
The lawns are well maintained, as are the various garden beds located around the park. Of particular note are the shrubs that are situated along the Queen Street boundary of the park, these are neatly trimmed, an example of the skilful work of the council workers who are responsible for this task. There are also several mature trees located within the park.
Other features include a small children's playground, several park benches, some tables, footpaths that criss-cross the park, an automated toilet block, and a small war memorial that is the focal point of annual Anzac Day commemorations. There are charging station seats, automatic public toilets, BBQs, tables, well kept gardens and lawns, a small kids play area, Anzac memorial, close to shops if you want to buy food to eat in the park. Twice monthly there is a night food market, we've always gotten nearby parking.
