Very rarely do I venture out West but on this occasion I stopped by in Campbelltown and took my lunch hankerings to the snazzy Mr B Eatery. What does the B stand for? One guess could be "Bistro" with its family-style vibe that congregates cheery locals and children, the dining room reverberating with the booming voices of the Vietnamese family who run the restaurant. Although we felt out of place as people from out of town, they were very courteous in listing down our order and guiding us to the cold water and self-serve cups available. We were definitely glad that the owner shown us where the water was as the food here will be cramming your mouth with savoury decadence.

They serve a combination of standard pub fare and Vietnamese dishes such as crispy chicken, pho and oxtail soup that can remedy any indecisive eater, all which reach comfort food levels of excellent. Mr B even one-ups the majority of clubs with the option to switch out the chips with rice, a certain winner for the Asian crowd. Our order of Vietnamese BBQ pork, lamb chops with a choice of sauce and grilled fish came promptly on huge plates stacked with mounds of rice and chips. Perfectly fried and dusted with chicken salt, there's my tick of approval for the tasty chips. Just to lessen the guilt of indulging in calorific meals, the side salad provides the necessary nutrition of greens, onions and tomatoes dressed with a reasonable amount of mayo.

But worries about the waistline flutter away once you take a bite of the Vietnamese BBQ pork, a vibrant red ball of meaty goodness that is bold in flavour, enriched by the grilled char that arouses the trapped fragrance of the fats. Honestly, the pork doesn't even need the mushroom sauce which is lavishly creamy and addictive. I received a whole ladle of the sauce that gushed onto the chips below, making for an incidentally scrumptious chips and gravy. The mushroom sauce best works with the massive lamb chops, reducing the gaminess with the slight sweetness of white wine in the mix. But the lamb by itself is also splendid and well cooked, quality that definitely goes past its price point.

The fish is a flaky basa fillet shimmering with the golden glints of the grill, albeit the cheapest cut yet undeniably delicious. Unfortunately, the succulent fish was overseasoned with too much salt and couldn't be saved by the tartar sauce.

Besides that one blunder, we were glad to have discovered a local joint that delivered affordable food and hospitality not only to visitors, but the community at large. Our family lives by the hallowed words "Cheap food, big portions" and Mr B Eatery fulfils our principles. We owe a lot to brilliant family owned restaurants like this and I hope to be acquaint myself more with the appetising menu. Just know that Mr B of the Greater West has got my full support all the way...

Wow found this place today and was blown away seriously! It’s an unassuming place where the old queen st tattoo place was up the top of the street as you enter the one way section down queen street.

It’s all $12 for any protein with salad chips sauce and can of drink = absolute bargain for the value.

I got grilled chicken with lovely salad delicious honey mustard homemade dressing and delicious mushroom sauce. I opted no chips. What I got was two pieces of juicy grilled chicken and delicious salad and a coke.

My mate got the pork chop grilled with rice and salad. You can get Vietnamese version in fish sauce or just grilled pork chops. The meat was big a few pieces perfectly cooked and I don’t usually like pork chops but I’m a convert now!

Other dishes for kids or entree at about $7. Lovely service and very fast food to table. Hope they do dinner.

Oh btw 300 gr rump and tbone same as the other dishes $12 crazy! Give it a go this chef can cook. Basic but...

WOW CUSTOMER SERVICE 10/10!!!

Never been here before it was my first time, came here to celebrate my son Graduation dinner as a last minute get together had 9 people including me and it was already busy and packed on a Friday night, was hesitant to ask how long the wait will be or if we could even get seats, The Manager quickly rushed and managed to find extra seats and tables and they put the seats and tables outside for us to wait and look at the menu. The fact that it was busy and packed they still went out of their way to make sure we could get seats and tables. Highly recommend coming if you’re looking for Fast Service and Amazing Food that’s honestly cheap in this economy! Thank you Mr B for an amazing first experience, can’t wait to...

Absolutely always love coming back here. We last dined in 2023 & it still is the same with its delicious large portion plates of food, and variety of options! We had the ‘Special of the Day’ New York Steak with chips & rice. The portion was big & the steak was cooked to a ‘well done’ perfection. The fries were also crunchy. The mushroom gravy sauce was delicious. It was one of the best we’ve had. It was not too sweet or too watery. It was perfectly blended. Definitely coming back sooner than later & trying more of the many options to choose from.

Rump steak was overcooked on the outside and ice cold on the inside. Buffalo wings more like Sriracha wings, anything that dryer than the buffalo wings would've be Sahara desert. Phở was a disaster 3 little pieces meat with big chunk of bone not even edible, the soups was murky and smelly, bean sprouts and Basil was all dry out. $5 can only get half cups of coconut water 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️ Feeling sick after the meal Wouldn't be a second time for me.
