Always clean when I visit. Often windy when I happen to be there so before the evening bring extra clothes. Many times I seen people using the BBQ but I heard once a friend of mine could not get the BBQ to work. Make me suspicious if it was the wind blowing causing too much turbulence (I am only guessing it is gas). Well no meat for them that day, they given up while I noticed at least couple of others after him were using that same BBQ. Not a fan as I keep imagining birds fly by and poop on it. You want to make sure you bring a brush and cleaners for your own health, as seagulls are scavengers.
Apart from the extra space, there are commercial and sponsored activities there when the season permits. You can park on the Node's car-park or on Hillarys Boat Harbour side (beware of paid parking times in the mornings). Not too far to walk to those restaurants / fast food if the BBQ fails.
Just beware this park has not got enough bench /seats / tables, best to BYO particularly for the comfort of the elderly and infirm. Not complaining as I know there's cost in maintenance. Hand held umbrella may not be an good idea on windy days. So bring something strong, not far to fill your sand bags at the beach if you want weight to hold down your GAZEBO. Not sure what the rules are with pegs in public parks, but I do know particular councils do not allow metal pegs (plastic only) as its dangerous when accidentally mowed, not the obvious reason it is a projectile but because it leaves scattered remaining; many tiny pieces of sharp shrapnel. Quite annoying to get it out from under your skin and then tearing more flesh, like a fishing hook when you try pull it out with tweezers. Glad it wasn't on my butt.
Plenty of space to kick a ball. Enough trees to take sun cover in the...
