⭐ 0/5 – Disappointing Experience at Dome Café, Hillary’s Boat Harbour
I’m deeply disappointed with the experience I had at Dome Café in Hillary’s Boat Harbour. On multiple occasions, I’ve visited this café to observe the environment and hospitality — and each time, I’ve been left feeling culturally unsafe and unwelcome.
During my most recent visit, I lined up respectfully to place my order. When I reached the counter, the manager — an older woman — greeted me with hostility: “Yeah, what is it? What do you want? I don’t have time, just hurry up and choose.” This level of rudeness is not only unprofessional, but it made me feel disrespected and unwelcome, especially as a person of colour. Her tone and attitude felt targeted, and sadly, I wasn’t the only one who noticed. Friends who accompanied me also experienced similar treatment.
In addition to the poor customer service, the food presentation and quality didn’t meet expectations. The smashed avocado was served in separate components (feta, avo, etc.), making the dish feel disjointed. In other states, I’ve had this meal beautifully plated with pomegranate, tomato relish, herbs, and lemon zest. It felt like little care was taken in the presentation or taste.
This review isn’t written lightly — it reflects repeated negative experiences. I believe Dome Hillary’s should review their cultural awareness, hospitality standards, and customer service training — especially for management. No one should feel unsafe or disrespected when simply trying to enjoy a meal.
Until significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend...
Read moreI came to Hillarys for a walk around with friends, and there were fast foods, fast foods, only crapy food sellers, nothing was a good thing, then i saw a menu with: fresh baguette sandwich
As i'm french i'm used to eat baguettes (fresh ones of course)
More then 10 dollars for a piece of flour/water/salt, well i'm in Australia it's logic it's higher in price than in France, i go for it
I wait for about 30 or 35 minutes for this, i guessed: they cook the baguette on the moment, no matter to wait if that's good...
At the moment they give me the "fresh" (i guess it was ironic after all) baguette sandwich
There was a piece of tomatoe in, a bit of salad, ok a piece of cheese (really basic one...), a piece of ham (very bad taste) and, a fresh baguette that was something with no taste, no fresh taste nor a french baguette very low level taste (industrials do better in France, and industrials ones are already very bad...)
I let you imaginate the deception, i threw away the sandwich as it was so bad
Never come back to Dome,
I would have prefered just a real fresh baguette with nothing in, just cracky fresh and tasty
0 for the food, was trully bad 2-3 for decoration, was ok, 0 for the service, some waitress were cute, but it was long... for what it was! cost, moderate, because it was...
Read moreVery shocking Service. As we arrived at around 3 30 there was hardly anybody there. 8 tables on outside and we could only use 1 because the other 7 were full of dirty dishes. The table we used we had to clean up also. So I go in and order coffee and cake. Cake comes in 2 minutes and the coffee we have to go and ask for. So husband goes in and asks for coffee, well it is on the way. Mind you there was maybe 8 people in the restaurant, so not busy. There were 3 young people behind the counter just having fun, but nobody was making coffee, so my husband told them what he thinks of there service. As the coffee finally arrives we been told it only took 8 minutes since ordering. I am not sure about that. They stars could be right, but even so not busy, having time to have fun and not making coffee is not so funny. And then some girl comes out to tell us we are not welcome there anymore because we told them to do there job. Well do not worry, because there is no danger of us or anybody we know coming back. And when I read the other comments it must go on all the time. So either you need a new manager or new staff. And about those stars, why do we have to give you stars, you do not deserve...
