Lot One Kitchen — Restaurant in Western Australia

My friend and I having been regularly dining at your establishment since its first opening and would say that I personally frequent your restaurant more than any other business in the area due to the great service, great food and ambience.

However, last night my friend and I were bitterly disappointed with our dining experience. Our table was so close to the table behind us that I had to sit very close to my table so as to not bump chairs with the person behind. The waiter/ manager did not adhere to social distancing when engaging conversation to us. He put his head down to look at my friends menu about 15cm away from her head and she asked him to please move away a little as besides covid he was also invading her personal space. To his credit he did apologise at the end of our dining experience for this.

My friend ordered the malaysian chicken which honestly looked like muck on her plate. The chicken was mixed up in a coleslaw. She asked to read the menu again as got a shock when she saw the same and was trying to find the individual ingrediants that made up the dish.

I ordered the prawn and chorizo gnocchi, which was disgusting. It tasted like warmed up thick tomato paste. Very strong, thick and so much of it I couldnt see the difference between the prawns and potato until I put it in my mouth.

We want to come back to this restaurant and have the dining experience we have always had in the past. However, after this experience we will give it a miss for a while. Hoping that things will improve with some constructive feedback from patrons.

In addition, please bring back the healing bowl...

There for brunch: Ordered Smashed Pea & Avo, broad beans, asparagus, rocket, poached eggs, dukkah, mint, toasted sourdough. I asked for no sourdough, but feta and spinach.

Plate came with no smashed pea or asparagus, a few edamame beans and avo. Got charged $8 additional for the spinach and feta, whcih was literally 4 small squares.

So I paid $33 for 2 poached eggs, some avo a small portion of spinach and 4 squares of feta. I wish I'd taken a photo but I was confused and starving. Overpriced and tasted average.

I was there with 4 other girls for our friend having a baby. We booked at 12pm. At 1.15pm a girl came over and said "Just letting you kow we need you to leave the table in one minute, as this table is booked and the people with the booking have arrived!" No please, no thank you. Just pursed lips like she knew she was delivering unacceptable information for the style and price point of the venue.

WTAF! SO many better ways to deliver that news - like maybe 5-10 mins prior. Maybe a please? She did not offer us the outside seating to move to, so we asked if that would be ok, and she replied - that should be fine. Should Be? Really?

Updated March 2021 Since my original post 2 years ago I've come here a handful of times for brunch. Can't go past the eggs Florentine with additional salmon (the salmon is fresh cooked salmon, not just smoked salmon from a packet). The portion sizes are great and the price is very reasonable. Service is always A++ the girls are always very attentive. Dirty chai is good. Chai needs a bit of a kick (a bit bland). The only gripe I have is the flies getting inside during the warmer weather, but I don't know if there's anything they can do about that really... maybe installing some kind of mesh across the open front.

Keep up the good work guys and I'll happily keep coming back to support small business!

Really impressed with Lot One after each of my 5 or 6 visits in the past 2 months. Staff are friendly & efficient. Prices are reasonable. Vibe is great. I can't comment on the food, but smoothies and coffee are awesome. Best mocha I've had in Perth. Every time I've been there the cafe has been busy but we've always been able to get a table or a couch spot straight away.
