We love Kiama, but for what we paid ‘off season’ ($850AUD+ for 3 night), it DID NOT match or come even close to what we saw in the reviews & our experience.||1. Arrived just after 3PM, the staff member at reception was friendly & informative. We were directed to Cabin 19 & we entered a dark, dingy, small, run down demountable. From the porch we had a partial view of the beach. Within 40min the inside lock of the screen door - literally fell out! Initially I sent my son, then I went to reception to clarify it had literally ‘fallen out’, it looked like the lock had been broken & just placed back into the frame of the screen door & I didn’t want to be charged for the breakage. Being a Friday afternoon, they were not able to get it fixed, so we just had the glass sliding door as security. ||2. The floor to the bathroom had a ridiculous amount of cleaning product left all over it. The tread from the soles of our shoes were visible after walking, the sound & feel was ‘tacky’. I took a video of me drawing in the product with the tip of my Ugg boot. We felt so disgusted none of us wanted to take off our shoes & have a shower that night.||3. The cord to the top bunk bed blind was missing & found hidden under that bed between the slats & the mattress. I took photos of the blind & broken cord so we were not charged for that as well.||4. The worst part of this whole stay was the INFESTATION of COCKROACHES in Cabin 19. In short they were EVERYWHERE - bathroom, bedrooms, kitchen, lounge room, walls, floors, on our beds & we found one in the fridge!!! Blonde, brown, black, adults, babies! I took photos & videos. I wrote a detailed email & around 2230hr I rang the reception emergency number, explained the issue, said we couldn’t sleep here, she didn’t question, just said she’d be there soon & to pack our stuff & we’d be relocated that night. The staff member arrived & saw a cockroach crawling out from under the couch & she was apologetic. We were relocated to a clean, dry, cockroach free cabin on the beach. It was a vast improvement to Cabin 19. ||The next morning I found one cockroach on top of my bedding, but I think this may have a been a hitchhiker from Cabin 19, as we didn’t have any others for the rest...
Read moreOur stay had some highlights, but also a few issues worth noting for future guests. First, the location is absolutely beautiful, with easy access to great spots around Kiama, plus nearby options for dining and groceries, which made things very convenient. The cabin itself was clean and well-maintained, so it’s clear they take care of the facilities.
However, there were some aspects of our experience that were unexpected. We booked in advance during the 2023-2024 financial year, assuming the quoted price would stay fixed, but were informed that rates could change by our stay in the 2024-2025 financial year. When we reached out to ask about it, the response felt rather terse and didn’t offer much clarity.
Inside the cabin, while it was very tidy, the lighting was bright and clinical, with a flickering fluorescent above the bed in the second bedroom that only worked when adjusted. A softer, warmer lighting setup or bedside lamps would have made the space feel more inviting. There was also no fan in the second room, and even with windows open, the room stayed stuffy due to the cabin’s layout limiting airflow.
Lastly, only one parking spot was provided per cabin, which was challenging since we had two couples travelling from different locations in NSW.
Overall, we enjoyed the beautiful setting and found the location convenient, but a few adjustments could make the stay even more comfortable and...
Read moreUpdate 2023 - $55/night, 2 people, campervan, stayed for 3 nights. Book in advance, they are popular. Staff were great, friendly, helpful and genuinely nice. We had a site off to the back by the walking path but was comfortable, great wifi. It's a bit of a walk to the amenities but easily accessible and they are clean. Camp kitchen has 2 BBQs with a sink, 4 burner cooktop, counter, sink, kettle, toaster and microwave. Can't beat the seating area indoor and out. Perfectly situated to walk into town or to many of the attractions in the area.
Only hiccup was s group of teens camped next to us one night who weren't as quiet as they thought they were. Security was called by another party and it was handled.
Highly recommend and would stay again.
$40/night for 2 people, campervan, powered site. Nice place, reception and staff very friendly. Amenities are clean and well maintained, newer. The camp kitchen is nice, well set up with two BBQ'S and a gas cooktop along with all the other items. The only issue here is that the hood vents need cleaned, there is a massive grease buildup on the screens. Otherwise it's clean and we'll maintained. The sites are nice and you get good space. You can easily walk to either blowhole and into town from here....
