I love this restaurant but last night really disappointed us. It was very crowded with a Lions club function and there were only two young ladies on the floor taking orders, answering phones and making drinks. We sat for nearly 20 minutes until we had our drink order (actually wanted to have pre dinner drink before ordering but to help the young staff member we gave her our food order as well on her request because it was so busy) We waited and watched as the young lady doing the drink order spent approx 15 minutes on the phone taking an order for take out and when our entrees arrived the drinks came at the same time, we didn't accept them as we had taken wine to have with our meal. We don't go out much for dinner these days as we are retired so we looked forward to this dinner and we were so disappointed that there were not enough staff to coordinate drinks and even plates for our pizza when it came. It is certainly not the young ladies who worked very hard to please but just couldn't spread themselves over so many customers. Will still return because the food is wonderfull but please ensure that there is enough staff to serve all your guests and not have them sitting waiting in anticipation for a pre dinner drink and them have the food come and the same time with no time to...
Read moreHad a reservation for tonight for 4 adults and a baby, but sadly our son fell suddenly ill on the way to the restaurant. Instead of making any fuss about the sudden loss of three people for the reservation, they kindly amended it for just two on short notice. We did however decide to do takeaway, and while I waited the staff were very kind in getting me an extra seat to sit with the two folks who’d be dining while I waited and didn’t get grumpy or fuss about anything. I got a small sampler of their bread, the meal came out in 5 minutes and despite having a 20 minute drive home, was so delicious that we can’t wait to go back once the boy is feeling better. My wife got the roasted veggie pizza (which was absolutely delicious, and something I wouldn’t normally order) and I got the beef tagliatelle (which in a word is divine). All in all, despite having a sick 18 month old, Olive and Vine (and crew) took away most of the pain of the evening and I honestly cannot rate the place for their service, kindness, understanding and absolutely delicious food any higher....
Read moreThis is my second visit to this restaurant and you know what, I couldn't fault it. The wine is incredibly reasonably priced and the young staff are pleasant, efficient without being overly attentive, and really good at what they do. Food comes out quickly, and are reasonably portioned (though I think the pasta dishes are pretty huge!).
The duck, according to my mother, was "out of this world". I had a perfectly cooked beef fillet (ask for a little extra hollandaise, it's delicious). Son loved his pizza and dad very much enjoyed his pasta marinara.
The star of the show was the crème brulé which I could frankly could just eat for every meal for the rest of my life, but that would be impractical and probably slightly unhealthy in the long term. Anyway, if you're in Kiama, give this place a go, you won't be...
