The ride to Murgon is 100% bitumen and mostly a gentle grade downhill or flat. Despite lots of trees there is very little shade so go prepared - this trail is best tackled in the cooler months. To get to Murgon super fit riders would do it in 2.5 hrs, average riders 3.25 hrs approx (+ stops). From Murgon to Kingaroy it's mostly a gentle but leg-burning climb so add 10 - 50% to those times depending on your fitness level. If you plan on doing the return trip in one day expect it to be tough and require a high level of fitness. Beautiful trail suitable for all ages kids to adults, do as little or as much as you like - lots of options - lots of townships to stop in and check out and fuel up. This rail trail is so well built and a hidden gem for the region. Having the good surface to ride on versus the usual dirt trails makes it extra special.
