Million dollar disappointment. This place LOOKS great, and the quality of the workmanship and materials are magnificent. Unfortunately, these are all negatives in this case, because A, it must have cost a fortune and B, the people of Frankston are going to be stuck with this poorly conceived monstrosity for a long time to come.
I don’t know who was consulted to come up with the design of this playground, certainly not kids, or even the parents of kids. This is barely usable by most children and boring for others. Half of the playground has been deliberately made to be unusable by small kids of 5 or less. The other half is unsafe, due to large gaps that even a 10 year old could fall through, leading to eight foot drops. The rope swing-bridge moves around a lot and is unprotected, so when multiple kids use it at the same time, it’s bound to lead to many long falls with likely broken bones. A few items of the equipment already have blocked drainage holes and I expect will pool water for long periods in winter and be lovely breeding spots for mosquitos in summer.
And of course it’s made even worse when you think back to the wonderful playground that existed before. It was safe, fun and accessible to all kids (and still in great condition for that matter). I don’t think there will be many that will voluntarily visit this place more than once with their children. At least they may have solved the parking issues. Nice job...
Read moreMy daughter went to the food truck carnival this past weekend and tried the newly renovated park and i must say that the old layout of the park was alot better. I would like to see how much money was wasted on the "improvements" of this park. One side of the play area cannot be used by children unless the child can climb up metal chain ladders, there is also a board walk on the accessible playground which cannot meet oh&s standards. all in all im not a fan of the new play area and the funds could have went to something else within...
Read moreGreat safe park for kids, only down side is the cost of parking, $3.60 an hour, even if you park on the Hwy. However if you park on the opposite side going towards Mornington, no fees for parking I had to drop my wife and grandson off. Drive up and do you turn so I could use the free parking side. Mums and dads on their own really can't do that, the Frankston council should be ashamed of this, a great facility spoilt by hefty parking charges that target families, it...
