Kissing Point Fortification — Attraction in North Ward

Kissing Point sits at the top of Jezzine Barracks and offers wonderful views across the Townsville region. There are great walking tracks throughout the area with little pockets of history through signage, preserved monuments and art pieces. There are pathways to allow for pram and wheelchair access as well.

A nice easy track that takes minutes. The fort is a sad reminder of the time when arguments between nations where settled by force. The actual fort has 2 300mm guns, previously on turrents. They have made a large map of noumea & surrounding islands in concrete to show all the allies & the Japanese military movements, including what military & civilian ships were scuttled & dates when they were lost.
