⭐⭐ 2/5 Google Review for Shorehouse ⭐⭐
My recent visit to Shorehouse left me with mixed feelings. Let me start with the positives. The food was undoubtedly very good, and the location was simply fantastic. Situated close to the shore, the restaurant offered breathtaking views that complemented the dining experience perfectly. The ambiance was pleasant, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing meal.
However, my overall experience was dampened by the disappointing service provided by the staff. Throughout the evening, it seemed like the waitstaff was more interested in enjoying themselves at the bar area than attending to the customers. They appeared to be engaged in their own conversations and laughter, which unfortunately left the impression that they were neglecting their responsibilities.
Getting their attention proved to be quite the challenge. It felt like we had to make a concerted effort just to catch their eye. On several occasions, we resorted to physically walking over to the bar area to request assistance. This lack of attentiveness detracted from the otherwise enjoyable evening we had hoped for.
To make matters worse, when it came time to settle the bill, the transaction felt rushed and unprofessional. The receipt was practically thrown at us, leaving us feeling undervalued as patrons.
While the food and location certainly deserve commendation, the non-attentive and indifferent behavior of the staff left a lasting impression on our dining experience. The restaurant management may want to consider addressing this issue to maintain the overall quality of service and ensure a more pleasant atmosphere for all guests.
In summary, if you prioritize excellent food and a beautiful view, Shorehouse might still be worth a visit. However, be prepared for a potentially disappointing service experience with inattentive staff. I hope that the management takes this feedback constructively and works towards enhancing the service quality, as it would undoubtedly elevate the dining experience and leave customers with more...
Read moreTo start with a positive, Shorehouse is a great location on The Strand. It offers nice decor & some lovely views.
When you arrive you are greeted by friendly & professional staff & you feel very well looked after. Drinks are offered right away & arrive quickly. All seems well.
The food arrives & it looks great, nice plating & generous portions, again all seems well.
But then you taste the food.
Nothing is seasoned properly & very bland. The appetisers, prawn soldiers & crab bao are not only bland but actually both taste a bit unpleasant.
Extremely disappointing.
The mains, beef rib & pork belly, not unpleasant tasting but extremely boring. There is absolutely nothing interesting or exciting about the cook or the design of these dishes. Terribly under seasoned & altogether bland flavours.
The sides are no different, lacklustre & do nothing to lift up the mains.
In search for a positive the sauce for the beef had a nice flavour but it was hugely lacking on the plate & couldn't compensate for the lack of flavour elsewhere on the dish.
Front of house are doing a good job here but the kitchen is failing miserably. They really need to taste their food and consider what they are serving. It feels like fake Asian food very poorly executed.
For over 100 per head this is way below par. Recommend to avoid this place & its a shame because there is...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommend. I wish we went somewhere else. We decided, to try the banquets, Just feed me for the men and just feed me seafood for the women. The standard banquet at 62 bucks party person was terrible, from the fried spring roles (ok), bland soft bun pork bao, to the mains. Disgusting beef meat loaf/ oversized sausage role. It was dry, flavourless and just nasty. The Pork Belly was bland, cold, all fat, and the crispy top was a chewy mess. Men's to say were not happy. The chicken Makhani was the best dish, and it was average with an unbalanced flavour of excessive tomato paste! The ladies faired better, with Prawn Bao, in the same soft bread, 1 scallop each, which I didn't get to try and then come the mains. 6 grilled Tiger prawns, oh wait, 3 cut in half for 2 people! Really! And the best dish of the night, Thai seafood green curry, it was good, but at 78 bucks per person it was not worth it. $376 later I felt sick and didn't sleep very well that night. The only enjoyment I had was my family and the average small serve of vanilla (not been) ice cream to share... Really disappointed. Not too mention the view was average, the service was inconsistent and we were not served what we were told as part of the banquet. I felt they dishes up leftovers and we were treated like...
