Castle Crest Motel — Hotel in North Ward

Google asks me to update: August 2022, safe little complex, comfy rooms, Aircon, decent sized tv, great shower pressure, still friendly staff, still great motel...

UPDATE: As of 2022, it's still a great little clean, friendly hotel.

Update: We've now stayed at the Castle Crest for over 5 single night stays when we've found ourselves needing to travel to Townsville. Still remains just as great. Its always refreshing to walk in to a motel room and feel at home. So clean and comfortable. Being remembered when you are a regular guest. Have never even considered staying at another hotel as I am a creature of habit. Have had 4 different rooms throughout our stay and all are equally as spacious and tidy as the next. And show pressure is so good, gets nice and hot....ahhh relaxing.

This place is great, Denise is friendly and welcoming. It's also a place for families to stay who are travelling for medical too. Clean, comfortable, bed is the most comfortable I've ever had in a motel..plenty of pillows, wifi was strong....nice family friendly quiet place. Off street parking which was also a bonus, so I could actually relax and sleep.... will be staying here again. Price is reasonable, right around the corner...

We are very disappointed with this hotel. The room we received did not match the description on Booking.com: the photos of the booked category clearly show a room with a normal, openable window. Instead, we were given a room with a fixed window facing the staircase. All night long, bright light from the staircase shone through the curtains, making proper sleep impossible.

At the reception we heard nothing but excuses instead of real solutions. The only “solution” offered to us was to leave the hotel – which was not an option for us. Our complaint was not taken seriously at all, which is highly unprofessional.

This room is so different from what was advertised that it should really be a separate category. Selling it at the same price as the other rooms is simply unacceptable.

The worst part, however, was the cleaning staff asking me to get up from a chair in the hallway because she wanted to put her towels there. No guest should ever be treated in such an unfriendly and...

The cleaner started banging on the door at 830. On leaving at 1010 after more ferocious banging at 958 my wife said to them it’s not acceptable to knock at 830. She explained it’s because she was cleaning the room opposite. To which my wife said that’s not a good system and she became very defensive. The owner then called at 1015 to tell me her husband was on his way to remove us, we explained we were getting into a taxi. She talked over us saying we had been aggressive to her staff, wouldn’t let us say a word and then hung up. Can see where her cleaner got her rudeness. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are family.

The taxi driver was also in wonderment of how she could run a business as the phone was on loud speaker as she verbally threatened and abused me. In fact he actually called it faulty towers. So stay if you wish as long as you haven’t arrived very late and are happy to...
