Thought I would visit the big sugar factory but it was only a miniature model of it. So you will see the devices for sugar processing in a smaller version. First it was a little bit disappointing but, I thought "okay could be a good experience though" - how false!

At the beginning of the tour our guide explained us how the sugarcane gets crushed and processed to the sugar we buy in the supermarket (15 min). We watched a movie about the previously explained manufacturing steps (10 min). Then we had a tasting of different products (sauces, liqueur, cotton candy) the sugar shed produced (30 min). Finally we've been shown some machines used to harvest sugar cane (15 min).

The woman who guided our tour seemed very stressed and explained only quickly - we rushed through everything! No room for questions, sometimes our guide was even unfriendly. Only two of the seven machines were shown in action, the others were just explained. Half of the movie we saw in the middle of the tour was filled with advertisment about the region and their products. When we got to the harvesting machines there was a photo wall and we were invited to take pictures now. Approximately a third of the people started taking photos. Our guide ignored that and continued the tour. I couldn't understand why because it was at the very end and we finished before the official ending time.

In the end we paid 25$ for a 1h and 10 minutes tour that I should have spent on a book or movie about sugar. If you're interested how sugar gets processed better visit the sugar mill in Tully or go to the sugar museum in Innisfail. If you'd like to gather a very brief overview about the production, the tour will probably...

Booked a tour for family but due to vehicle/van repairs couldn't make it. Phoned out of courtesy to let them know we wouldn't make it. I was aware of the no refund policy which was fine. I was offered by staff to re-book when we were passing back through. Now at the time of asking to re-book I am told they do not hold credits and invited me to pay the fee again. After travelling extensively throughout Australia in the van with the family, this is by far and away the worst customer service I have come across. So disappointing and will not be advising other travelling families to support this business. They're happy to take our money and not honour their offer of a credit after unfortunate circumstances. Plenty of room on the tours, I don't see it would have put them out to put a family through that has already paid!

Adele was polite but not helpful at all

To the condescending reply below... I was actually told by you I could re-book in September. And we do have travel insurance which we wouldn't use to claim an $83 loss for our family admission to your sugar cane tour. Thanks for the helpful advice though, and I do hope your customer...

Today I stopped to go to the Sugar shed today on my way back to down to the coast. To buy 6 bottles of Butter Scotch liquor and 6 Coconut liquor. l had my two dogs with me that were very well behaved. A woman behind the counter told me they can go to the Cafe area. I said all l wanted to do is buy some products and then she went about her business. Another lady came from the Cafe area asked if she could take a photo of my 2 girls dogs and said that would be OK. Another lady working there behind the counter asked if she could say hello but none of them asked if they could help me l stood there waiting for more than 15 minutes wanting to purchase 12 bottles of liquor to take back down the coast. I don't know l must of been invisible to them l was going to spend a fair bit of money there today. I was not going on a tour or anything else. I just wanted to purchase 12 bottles of liquor may be it was the way l looked l don't know but after 15 minutes of waiting l said you obviously don't want the sale and walked away. Very very disappointing would not recommend would not go back and give them...

Despite the hot day, the tour was excellent. Big umbrellas provided to help with portable shade as we saw the the outside exhibits. Informative and entertaining, a walk through historical innovations of the machinery made or modified for the harvest and cultivation was also fascinating. The sugar processing was interesting too, have cooked and baked from basics for over 40 years and still learned more to help with future sugar choices. Loved it! The taste test area was terrific, all locally made products from the marmalade to the liqueurs and a definite encouragement to take some home. Highly recommended tour run by fantastic knowledgeable locals. The cafe was a hit as well, great coffee with a side of scone, cream and jam before our tour served with a warm welcome and genuine smile.

We absolutely loved our visit to the Sarina Sugar Shed! We arrived after 5 hours of driving so it was a great opportunity for a 'sugar kick' The tour was incredibly informative and engaging, thanks to our enthusiastic guide who brought the local sugar industry and history to life. It was fascinating to learn how sugar is made from sugar cane right here in the region. The equipment displays and hands-on elements made it even more interesting. A lovely touch was how the experience caters to kids — they even make fresh fairy floss for them to enjoy, which was a big hit! The tour ended with delicious liqueur tastings featuring unique, locally made flavours. A fun, educational, and tasty outing for all ages!

Overall pretty boring and too pricy. The “tour” is just standing in one place for half the time listening to the guide and the next half hour was inside listening to the guide and tasting some sugar cane and molasses. At the end you can try some of their liquors, marmalades and sauces in the hope you will want to buy it, none of which we liked. They do have a cotton candy machine if you like that. The 30 minute rum tour was just an extension of the sugar shed tour with tasting of various rums and spirits. The only one we liked was the banana rum which wasn’t for sale. You don’t get to see the actual factory nor any of process in action except squeezing out the sugar cane juice.
