Hideaway Restaurant — Restaurant in Queensland

Coming from interstate, I was sick and tired of fish 'n chips and pizza starting from northern NSW all the way up to Sarina. Don't Queenslanders eat anything else? I stopped at this "restaurant" because the word restaurant implied a selection of proper food... and not fish 'n chips. Why not call yourself "Fish 'n Chips Hideaway"? I entered and was met by a grumpy person with attitude who said that they usually did not have dine-in at this time. Well, how am I supposed to know that? There were bill boards outside saying 'open'. She then demanded to see my vaccination certificate. Huh, I thought you only had takeaway at this time? Moments later, what appeared to be a local came in and was met with a smile. She didn't have to show a vaccination certificate. My advice, go get a burger and really nice fish 'n chips from the shop up the road. At least they...

The service here was honestly amazing — the staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience feel really warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t quite hit the mark. The breakfast lacked flavour, and a few items tasted like they may have been microwaved rather than freshly made. Our coffee and hot chocolate also didn’t have much taste. Like the name says. Hide away! Almost walked past it. Quite a little gem inside when found. Very neat and tidy, lots of room. Service by owner was excellent, thrived to keep us happy.
