Be careful to supervise kids when the tide is rushing out to sea, as they could easily lose footing and be swept out. The water can get deep very suddenly with the changing sand underneath. Good fun when the tide is going out, floating from up alongside the black coffee rocks adjacent to the conservation park, down to the opening of the lake where the ocean begins. Absolutely ideal place to bring babies and young kids. There is a bit of shade over near the buildings and car park. Parking can be a challenge in busy times. The public toilets are nearby and there is a playground to suit young kids. A lovely walkway goes almost all the way to the bridge. It's a lovely place to see native flora...

During incoming and outgoing tides, some of the water can be fast flowing - which adds a nice fun factor. Due to its shallow and still water, the lake can be very warm. There are also places where it is safe to jump into the water. Definitely a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Seating is available in the sun and under the trees.
