A beautiful place to spend the day: picnic with family or friends, swimming, walking, snorkelling, chilling out, people watching, watching people sailing, etc. The beach is protected as it curves, so hardly any waves. I could sit on a rock at Rocky Point island the whole day relaxing and enjoying the views. Sometimes there are groups of people with tables and chairs. I supposed you could rent some places there for a party or even a wedding, near the public pavillion and the Rocky Point island. I heard they have some electric BBQ grills under the trees but have not tried. There are several restaurants there. We have been to the Bathers' Pavillion, the Bottom of the Harbour restaurant, the Boathouse, the Balmoral Corner Store, and others. Our favourite is the Bottom of the Harbour. They serve hot or cold dishes. I love their battered fish and chips and grilled seafoods. Years ago, there would be long queues of people wanting take away as this place is next to a bus stop. Before, we would come out if the bus and queue directly to get food and then spread a towel on the beach and enjoy. They also have benches, some under the trees. There are public toilets and showers. This place is a nice place to walk, from the Boathouse towards the Bathers' Pavillion and beyond...to Bennett Beachside. Do not miss out on the Rocky Point Lookout. I suggest taking the buses as these come almost every 20 minutes, from the city of Sydney, North Sydney, St. Leonards, Crows Nest, etc . There is a waiting shed which was for the Balmoral Tram which apparently...

One of my most favorite beaches in Sydney. I can spend the whole day staring at the beauty of this place. I don't really know why this beach is not listed among the best beaches in North Shore. Maybe it is underestimated. It is about 15 mins from our place in North Sydney. There is a grand walkway to have a stroll while sipping coffee, parks to sit down and have quick meals or to play cricket with kids. People usually come here to surf, sun bath, play volley ball, jog, walk, exercise and lots more. You would see lots of friendly faces who don't mind to have conversations. There is paid parking, free parking in nearby streets (at least on weekends), toilets and eateries. Overall a great place to spend some quality time alone or with family and click beautiful photos of the...

This is an amazing family friendly beach. The waves are minimal, and are kid-friendly. There’s beach sand here. You can build a sandcastle. At the western and eastern ends of the beach is a lot of parkland with tree-shaded areas. There’s several toilet facilities here. Kiosks are located near the beach and across the road. Parking is hard to come by during summer, and the on-street parking is expensive. A lot of people catch the bus to this beach - some people even park their cars blocks away from the beach to take advantage of the free parking, and then catch the bus the few blocks to the beach. This is a great spot to visit. We walk to this beach from Manly and Sydney regular - part of an amazing harbour...
