Freshwater Rockpool — Attraction in Sydney

(3.5 stars) At the northern end of Freshwater Beach you’ll find an eight-lane 50-meter ocean pool. Freshwater Ocean Pool is accessed via a pathway from the busy beach, or from a set of stairs down from a paid carpark. The smart folk park just outside the expensively metered spaces walking about twenty more steps for free four-hour street parks on Lumsdaine Drive. The pool itself is a bit green for my liking, with a fresh blue paint job over aggregate that is on the cusp of becoming sharp.

Over the far wall you’ll find an easy to access natural rock channel that powers you to a deeper rock pool. Come closer to high tide to experience it at its best and it will likely beat the pool hands down. Crowd-wise it’s a Northern Beaches affluent white mono-culture. Their monied-up Council though does provide good accessibility, including rails and ramps, untimed outdoor showers, and easy pathways. Great little 50m rockpool close to the cliffs and a short stroll from Freshwater Bay. Very chilly in winter months due to aspect and shady position.
