The service is quite fast. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions, we ordered a cheese and mushroom toastie and a pesto avocado with feta for food, a coffee and a soda water. Both sandwiches were nice and the location has a good vibe. We could see a lot of locals like the place. You only have to keep an eye on the birds though, they are quite cheeky and know when to try and grab a bite of whatever you are eating. It was quite funny seeing them in action, if you were not paying attention to your food they were on it immediately 😹. We are going to go back since they have nice areas to sit if the day is sunny. They have few small tables in the shady side and a big table on the side if you are going with a big group. This cafe is just upstairs from freshie so it’s quite convenient for an after win bite. I pointed this out to the owner, thinking he would want to know if bad practices, but he instead snapped ‘have you worked in a kitchen before?” To which I responded “yes, I’ve worked in several cafes” which is true. He then huffed and puffed, made some further commends and remade the coffees. I felt really insulted by his attitude and surprised that he found the handling of the ice normal, which I would never do....

The coffee is excellent, as is the food - best carrot cake ever! Most of all, however, one is made to feel so welcome by Nick and his delightful team. All of them make time to stop and have a chat, and they seem to have eternal smiles and good humour. Such a delightful experience! Without reservation, we recommend La Loca to anyone in the local area, as we do to anyone farther afield; it's worth a special trip! We are now back in the UK where it is cold! We think fondly of the many happy times we spent at La Loca, dreaming of the warmth, coffee and carrot...
