After doing our unashamedly tourist visits to Scenic Park and walks into and around the canyons in the Blue Mountains, our hosts suggested a quick visit to a gallery they liked and I am so glad they did. This little gallery and its content are simply stunning and it is a dare of mine to visit and not leave uplifted and richer for the experience.
Prior to my visit, Warwick Fuller was just a name of an artist that King Charles must have persuaded to support him on some of his trips but I realise now that I underestimated his ability; his work is simply stupendous. Some might be disappointed that I have not supported my review with photographs. This is entirely deliberate; I didn't take any. It would be tantamount to sacrilege to have done so. Go and see them close up and personal for yourselves.
I have to say that having just spent two days hiking and visiting the area, that the scenes, colours and light were familiar, but his paintings brought this back to life the majestic scenery that I had just visited, reminiscent of the detail in work by Stanhope Forbes and others in the Newlyn School.
His piece de resistance occupies a whole wall and depicts a canyon scene. There is a small rock promontory in the foreground and it felt so real as to be able to alight on it, enter the picture itself and look over the edge. In another, the sunlight on the back of a cow is simply amazing. It is a gallery that you should realise how lucky you are to have your eyesight.
So, if you didn't get the message yet; if you are in the area, just go and visit. Leave uplifted; honestly, it is...

Read moreI loved the exhibition, however I was made to feel very unwelcome from the minute I walked in. I am a Veteran with a Service Dog due to PTSD and the owner made a point of lecturing me about his 15 year old dog in a basket right near the main entrance and that I was not to let my highly trained Service Dog go near his dog because it would wet itself. Well I’m sorry but my dog is classed as a medical aid, so you should not have your dog right where people enter. The gallery is definitely not accessible to those with...
