where do i even begin. went to katoomba with my partner for our anniversary and end of the day we were really hungry so we came across this excuse of a restaurant. if you are after a romantic setting then this restaurant is not for you. we were only after some decent food so we did not mind the setting. the server was friendly enough, she came to take our order and literally everything we ordered they were "unable" or "not available" so we ended ordering pineapple fried rice and prawn dumplings. and that is exactly what we got. the rice was big chunks of pineapples, rice and chicken and the dumplings were these small, one bite four pieces. i have experience bad service before but i have never been disgusted by the food. the rice looked like it was just poured onto the place and when i approached the server to voice my discomfort, she did not care enough to listen or explain anything to me. i wanted to leave their food and keep my money but my partner was a better person and payed for food we did not touch and we left the poor excuse of a...
Read moreWe had ordered a few other dishes together with a plate of fried rice. We asked the Chinese waitress what style would it be, and she said it can be done to our style so we requested for Yangzhou. She said since we're full, she'll have the portion just enough for two, but not too much as well. We had a look at the price of the fried rice - Small (AU$5+) and Large (AU$6). When the bill came, she doubled charge us for this (looks like small: only enough for one) plate of fried rice at AU$12!! Completely absurd. We complained to another waitress but she informed us that the manager (the Chinese waitress who served us) had knocked off and the only thing she could do was to give us some fortune cookies. This is completely unethical of a restaurant to not inform the customers about the pricing and double charging us! Eat at your own risk. I'd rather be having sandwiches at Yellow Deli which is just...
Read moreThis is a typical Australian Cantonese-style restaurant.
The portions were large and fairly priced, but I found it challenging to comment on the taste. The honey chicken had a slightly burnt flavor, and the combination noodles lacked taste. Moreover, the tea was only warm, not hot, and seemed to be of poor quality, with small pieces ending up in my mouth. It felt like the most low-quality tea, possibly the cheapest available in China, being sold in Australia due to people's lack of awareness here. I didn't find this to be very considerate. The only good dish was the omelette. I was also disappointed when I ordered the combination noodles and specifically confirmed that they could be stir-fried in a wok, but later, they told me that this style wasn't possible. Overall, I don't think I will visit this...
