We had a rather enjoyable stay at the Blue Mountains Heritage Motel, and it was a good accommodation to be at. Location wise was decent on the main road of Katoomba St. Was not too bad walking downhill to the accommodation from Katoomba train station including with luggage.
Highlights for us: The staff was rather friendly in the brief interactions during check-in and check-out. We arrived earlier than the check in time and Carol was pretty sweet in trying to get us a room earlier than the check-in time if it was possible. Checking in was not a hassle at all. For checking out, it was also an quick and easy experience. We could leave our luggage with reception before the official check-in time and after check-out. This was rather convenient for us to explore the area without the need to lug our luggage around. Do note that it is not a lock up secure area but under the stairs in front of the reception area. It was nice to have breakfast included in the room, albeit the part where we had to hike back up towards the train station as breakfast was only available at the Metropole hotel. It is a rather beautiful location to have breakfast. The whole room, kitchenette & toilet was clean. The room was sufficienly spacious and the kitchenette was equipped with a microwave, sink & mini fridget. The welcome wine was a nice touch to the room and great addition for any celebrations. The room had a wardrobe section between the main room & the entrance. The toilet has a good working spa jet. Albeit it being a slightly older design, everything worked fine. Eventhough the room was facing the main road, it was quiet in the evenings and early mornings. The room location also provided easy access from the street.
The only drawback for us with staying here was mould in between some of the tiles within the toilet and the curtains. Whilst the room was generally clean, the window sills were rather dusty. There was also evidence of water marks at one of the corners or the room with what looked like the start of some mould as well.
Other than the listed drawbacks, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this motel. In fact, compared to other motels I have stayed in the past, this has been a very pleasant...
Read moreThe spa bath was good. Apart from this, the location and the off-site breakfast are the only positive things to say about our room (room C king spa). This place needs attention. Yeah, it's dated and only a 3-star motel, but neglecting to mention that both heaters in the room don't work upon checking-in on a 4-degree day is just pure negligence.
The heater under the window does nothing - lights up all pretty to impersonate a wood fire but the fan is cactus and the whole thing is merely just a power-hungry night light.
The split system air con didn't respond to the remote and after calling reception they said it was in limp mode from the previous guest. After finding the circuit breaker panel, resetting the power to the unit got it going, but only just. This thing struggled to get the room warm for the first few hours of our stay. The additional heater stowed away in the wardrobe I was advised to use instead was useless.
The next day we returned to our room in the evening after being out all day to find our door ajar. After speaking to reception, we learned that after our room was attended to during the day the housekeeper didn't pull the door shut and it was left open for several hours. Luckily none of our belongings were missing.
A bit of maintenance, a mop of the floors, a seal on the bottom of the front door to stop the draft is all this place needs.
Oh, the...
Read moreBooked a twin room for one weekend night, mainly because the price was reasonable in the economical range, and for its central location. Check in/out was a breeze, with friendly staff. The room itself although looking dated, was surprisingly functional.
The bathroom was relatively spacious, however it irked me somewhat that there was no handwashing basin in the bathroom, and that we instead had to use the sink/basin in the kitchen area. I also wish toiletry included bodywash option, as bar soap leaves skin feeling a bit dry.
There's not really much of a kitchen area, but I assume most guests would likely want to eat out, at the abundance of nearby cafes/restaurants.
The beds & pillows were nice and comfortable and I had a restful sleep. I was pleased at each bed having a separate bed light, and power sockets conveniently located above the bedside drawers. Smart TV was great, and although streaming services worked fine - the wifi connection's speed on our mobile phones were unfortunately unusable.
The location of this hotel is fantastic, being in Katoomba CBD, it's only a short walk to restaurants/bars/grocery stores etc. Complimentary onsite car parking is...
